My Educational Journey & Professional Foundation My academic and professional foundation in the UK began at the University of York, where I earned my first MA in Education. Studying at one of the UK’s leading centers for pedagogical research provided me with a deep understanding of learning psychology and curriculum design. It was during my time at York that I officially began my career in mathematics instruction. I worked extensively as a GCSE Mathematics tutor, delivering both online and face-to-face sessions to local students. This hands-on experience was very helpful and meaningfull; it allowed me to apply educational theories directly to the classroom, helping students navigate the complexities of the AQA and Edexcel syllabi while building their confidence from the ground up. Following my success at York, I moved on to the University of Sheffield to pursue a second MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). While this might seem like a shift in focus, it was actually a strategic move to enhance my math teaching. At Sheffield, I specialized in applied linguistics and communicative strategies. This advanced training gave me the unique ability to "decode" the language of mathematics. I realized that many students struggle with GCSE Maths not because of the numbers, but because of the complex wording of the questions. My expertise from Sheffield allows me to bridge this linguistic gap, making abstract mathematical concepts accessible and clear for every learner. By combining the pedagogical mastery from York with the linguistic precision from Sheffield, I offer a sophisticated, dual-lens approach to tutoring. Hi there. James here, from South Africa. I taught in London in Walthamstow for my probationary year in 1991, and then in Johannesburg and Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa for a total of 21 years. I have taught Cambridge A Level History and England and South Africa's English and History curricula. I am also a published researcher, poet, and author. I enjoy cross-country running. I like NETFLIX mystery series. I regularly get out wilderness walking and cross country swimming. Since February 2025, I tutor English and Religious Studies for GoStudent. I battled with learning difficulties at school. However, I did very well after school, because I knew that English opens doors. So, I set goals. Then I achieved a B.A (1985) and a B. Ed (1996) degree, at Wits University in Johannesburg. I did a Masters Degree in Theology (Regent College, Vancouver, B.C., 2001) and a PhD in Church History (University of KwaZulu-Natal, 2016). I believe education is a lifelong journey. We master English every day for the rest of our lives. So I'm still learning as I tutor GCSE students, A Level students, and juniors, to reach their highest goals.

Hi! My name is Fariha Delwer and I’m a medical student at Queen’s University Belfast with a real enthusiasm for teaching and helping others learn. I have experience tutoring GCSE Science and A-Level Chemistry, and I enjoy making tricky concepts simple and approachable. I tailor my lessons to each student’s needs, whether that’s building confidence in the basics or developing exam techniques for top grades. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and motivated to succeed. I am currently studying Medicine at Queen’s University Belfast, where I continue to build on my strong academic background in science. At A-level I studied at Bancroft's doing Chemistry, Biology, Religious Studies and an EPQ, achieving top grades (A* A* A) that reflect my commitment and ability in these subjects. At GCSEs I went to Southend High School for Girls, where I achieved nine 9s. Alongside my degree, I have developed teaching experience by tutoring GCSE Science and A-Level Chemistry, where I have learned how to explain complex ideas clearly and adapt my approach to suit different learning styles. My education has not only given me subject knowledge but also strong communication and problem-solving skills that I bring to every tutoring session.

I am a third-year undergraduate student studying Psychology and Sociology, with a genuine passion for supporting young people in reaching their potential. I have hands-on tutoring experience across Psychology, Maths, Biology, and English, working with children who required additional socioeconomic and special educational support. Alongside this, I work as a Residential Support Worker with children with special needs, giving me a strong understanding of diverse learning needs and how to adapt my approach accordingly. Outside of academics, I play netball, piano and love reading classic and historical fiction, which keeps me curious and engaged; qualities I bring into every tutoring session. I completed 10 GCSEs, achieving all A's and 9's, at Dulwich International School Singapore in 2022. I went on to complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma in 2024, finishing with a score of 36. My Higher Level subjects were Psychology, Global Politics, and English Language and Literature, in which I achieved 6's across the board, alongside a 6 in SL Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches, and 5's in SL Spanish and SL Biology. I am currently in my second year of a Master of Arts (BSc) in Psychology and Sociology at the University of Edinburgh, where I am due to graduate in 2028. Alongside my studies, I serve as User Experience Officer for the Undergraduate Psychology Association, where I work to improve the student experience within the department. In addition to my formal degree, I have pursued a number of enriching academic opportunities. In 2023, I completed a one-week Psychology Summer Course at King's College London, where I studied and debated topics including the DSM-V, Terror Management Theory and the Mortality Salience Hypothesis, Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, and Need-to-Belong Theory. That same year, I completed a Mental Health Warrior Awareness Training Course, a one-day programme focused on building awareness of the daily challenges associated with mental health disorders, including those that are often invisible or overlooked. In 2024, I also attended the INSEAD Business Summer School, broadening my understanding of leadership, strategy, and the intersection of business and human behaviour.
