Hi, I’m Maite! I’m a native German speaker and teach German at all levels — Primary, GCSE, and A-Level. Besides German and English, I also speak French and Spanish. I hold a BA in Cultural Studies with a minor in Educational Science, which deepened my understanding of cross-cultural learning, communication, and how to make complex ideas accessible. During my time at university, I spent over three years tutoring children of different ages, working in a programme led by the German federal government to support children from migrant and refugee backgrounds in their school learning. I am now excited to work with adults as well. When I think back to my own school years, the teachers who inspired me most were those whose honest passion made even my least favourite subjects enjoyable. That’s the atmosphere I aim to create in my lessons: engaging, light, and enjoyable. Outside tutoring, I teach meditation and mindfulness and support a charity creatively, which helps me bring patience, flexibility, and creativity into my teaching. I tailor lessons to each student — whether you need grammar support, speaking practice, exam preparation, or a personalised lesson to build confidence at your own pace, or simply want to learn German out of interest and enjoyment. I hold a BA in Cultural Studies and Educational Science, which I completed at Leuphana University in Lüneburg, Germany. I specialised in cultural theory and visual culture and spent an Erasmus semester at Université Bordeaux Montaigne in France. In addition, I hold a Yoga Alliance–approved 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certificate, complemented by an additional 50 hours of training in meditation.

I am a Qualified Teacher with over 20 years of experience teaching Mathematics to students of all levels. Edexcel, AQA, OCR (most material is common to all exam boards). I am currently working as a Mathematics teacher at a school in the U.K. In my previous roles, I taught mathematics and coding. I have also tutored students at various levels, from elementary school to college. I am very well aware of the Mathematics curriculum and always look for new and engaging ways to teach it. I am passionate about helping students learn and committed to providing them with the best possible education. I am an enthusiastic and dedicated GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry tutor who loves helping students understand and enjoy science. As a Biochemistry graduate with a strong academic background in the life sciences, I have spent years studying biology and chemistry, not just to pass exams, but to truly understand how these sciences work and why they matter in the real world. What excites me most about tutoring is seeing that moment of understanding when a difficult topic finally clicks. Both biology and chemistry can feel intimidating, full of complex processes and unfamiliar terminology, but I believe these subjects become quite fascinating once they are explained clearly and logically. Hello! I'm a tutor for GCSE Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Curiosity is so important to me - seizing opportunities wherever possible and always willing to try out a diverse and novel range of experiences. I also apply this mindset to the world of academia. I'm a strong believer that learning across disciplines teaches you one of the most important skills: understanding how someone else thinks. If you've had to deconstruct complicated concepts in a variety of subjects you quickly become adept at understanding where a person is getting stuck. I meet you where you're at. No skipping forward. We identify the gaps. Fill those gaps properly. And build from there. There are very few students who lack ability, they've just not had something explained to them in the right way yet. Another big part of my job is building confidence. Learning how to trust your own judgement and rationale. How to ask the right questions. How to stop panicking and second-guessing yourself during exams. You already have the knowledge, you just have to realise it! I studied Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics at A Level and AS Level - so the subjects I tutor are ones I've lived and breathed through exams myself, not too long ago. I know the syllabuses well. At GCSE, I achieved 13 A*s across a broad range of subjects including Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English Language, English Literature and Geography, among others. I was also awarded a prize for Citizenship and Academics as Best in Year. Outside of the classroom, I've always looked for ways to stretch myself - whether that was competitive debating, mentoring other students, or delivering weekly talks to school students and hospital staff linking science and medicine with real-world issues. I also earned Gold (Best in Year) in a UK Mathematics Trust-style competition. More recently, I've applied that academic foundation to some pretty varied things - from building mathematical models to address housing challenges, to achieving a top ~0.02% award in an international essay competition.
