Hello, my name is George Barnes! I am a highly motivated and dedicated teacher of Science, committed to helping students unlock their full potential. I am a qualified and experienced science teacher specialising in Biology, with a proven record of delivering results at KS3, GCSE and A-level. My motivation to pursue a career in education began in 2016 when I volunteered for two months in Accra, Ghana, teaching English and introducing organised sports in a secondary school. This experience reinforced my belief in the transformative power of education and ultimately inspired me to become a qualified teacher. Hello! I’m Kyrie Zalyn, an educator with a strong foundation in Psychology and over five years of teaching experience for both English and Math. What drives me as a teacher is my passion for helping students realize their full potential—academically and personally. My approach blends structure with creativity, making learning both meaningful and enjoyable. With a background in psychology, I understand how students think, learn, and stay motivated. I use that knowledge to design lessons that are engaging, interactive, and tailored to each learner’s pace and personality. Whether it’s refining communication skills or solving complex equations, I aim to create a space where students feel confident, curious, and capable. Beyond teaching, I’m a professional chess master and a language enthusiast—constantly learning, just like my students. I believe that the best classrooms are built on connection, encouragement, and growth, and I strive to bring that energy into every session. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and I’m currently pursuing my Master’s in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. I’m also a certified TEFL teacher with over five years of experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and learning levels. In addition to teaching, I’ve led teams as a chess athlete and coach with a title of "Woman National Master" in the field of chess. Also, I continue to grow by exploring new languages and learning strategies. I believe in creating a classroom where students feel supported, understood, and inspired to reach their goals—one lesson at a time.

Teaching is a passion that allows me to combine my love for learning with my desire to help others succeed. There's something deeply rewarding about watching a student grasp a new concept or gain confidence in their abilities. For me, teaching isn't just about delivering information; it’s about creating a supportive and engaging environment where students feel inspired to explore, ask questions, and challenge themselves. One of the most fulfilling aspects of teaching is the opportunity to make a lasting impact on someone's life. Whether it's helping a student overcome a struggle, guiding them through their learning journey, or simply encouraging them to believe in their potential, those moments are what drive my passion. I believe that every student is unique, and it’s important to adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs, whether through creative approaches, hands-on activities, or one-on-one support. Building meaningful relationships with students, understanding their strengths and challenges, and providing personalized guidance is at the heart of what I do. Ultimately, teaching is about fostering growth, inspiring curiosity, and empowering students to reach their full potential, and that’s what makes it such a fulfilling and lifelong passion for me. I completed my General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) in the United Kingdom, where I laid the foundation for my academic journey. Subsequently, I pursued my A-levels, advancing my knowledge in specific subjects and preparing for higher education. Currently, I am enrolled in university, where I am actively engaged in furthering my education. This stage of my academic journey has provided me with opportunities to delve deeper into my chosen field of study, contributing to my overall growth and development. I am dedicated to achieving academic excellence and acquiring valuable skills that will shape my future endeavors.

--- About Me! --- I'm Danny, a 4th year physicist at the University of Edinburgh, currently undergoing a research year abroad working on a thesis at GSI/FAIR, a facility for high energy physics. My work involves a lot of programming, knowledge of physics, and application of engineering and design principles. I love inspiring others and talking about my subject, so any student who comes my way will hopefully leave feeling confident, ready for common exam questions, and most importantly, wanting to learn more beyond their curriculum. I play the violin to a diploma standard, love trying out new cooking recipes (sometimes with disastrous consequences), and really enjoy mountain sports, like climbing and hiking. --- My Education --- As mentioned above, I am a physicist at the University of Edinburgh on a year in industry at GSI. I am working on the upcoming DIRC particle detectors for the PANDA project and the EIC at Brookhaven (google these things, in my opinion they are very cool). This research of course involves knowing a bunch about programming, mathematics and physics! I achieved 4 A* grades at A-Level, in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Music, with the WJEC exam board. For these grades, I abused my poor printer, drilling past paper questions endlessly, so I am very familiar with this specific curriculum. However, mathematics and physics are very similar across all exam boards. There are common questions in every exam, and your child will become familiar and confident with these questions with me, ideally able to reproduce 'stock answers' with a high level of understanding and speed. This saves time in exams and guarantees easy marks; this is a major step in reducing exam anxiety, and one of the main strategies I used to achieve my marks. I taught a STEM program at a US summer camp. It was much more of a 'for fun' thing, so we focused on making classes lightweight and enjoyable, rather than drilling worksheets and past paper questions. As such, I won't exclusively bore tutees to death with math problems! I pride myself on being able to break down concepts into simple to understand analogies. I am also a huge advocate for using past questions as revision material. However, I recognise the importance for students to balance time spent on questions with going over textbook concepts.
