Hello! I'm Jacob, and I have a passion for making complex subjects like Maths, Chemistry, and Physics both understandable and enjoyable. In the past 6 months, I've developed a strong background in private tutoring, specifically in Maths, Physics, and Chemistry for students up to A-level. This experience has not only sharpened my teaching skills but also deepened my appreciation for these subjects. Additionally, at university, I guided small groups of undergraduate students through tutorial sessions, focusing on preparing them for their exams. These sessions were designed to bridge the gap between theory and the practical application of knowledge, particularly in tackling problem questions. My teaching style is interactive and focused on practical application. I emphasise guided practice ...

Hi! I am a dedicated and friendly maths tutor with 3 years of experience supporting students at KS3, GCSE, and A-level. I focus on helping students build confidence, deepen their understanding, and improve exam technique in both pure and applied maths. I am confident working with all major UK exam boards, including Edexcel, AQA, and OCR, and I tailor my sessions to match each student's syllabus and learning style. I have helped learners prepare effectively for GCSE and A-level exams, often helping them improve by a grade or more. Currently, I am studying Law at the University of Leeds, which sharpens my logical thinking and communication skills, which directly enhances my tutoring. I bring a calm, structured, and encouraging approach to every session, always aiming to make maths feel more manageable and even enjoyable! Currently studying Law at the University of Leeds, where I am developing strong analytical and communication skills. Achieved A levels in Maths (A), French (A), Biology (A), and Chemistry (A), providing a broad scientific and mathematical foundation. After 20 years of secondary school classroom teaching in English and History, I am branching out into online teaching. I taught in London, at Walthamstow for my probationary year in 1991, and have since taught in South Africa, in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. I run Parkrun, grow and sell organic vegetables, and enjoy wilderness walking. After A Bachelor of Arts in History and English, at Wits University in Johannesburg in 1984, I did a postgraduate Higher Diploma in Education, in English and History. I then taught in London and South Africa for nine years, during which time I qualified with a Bachelor of Education in Applied Linguistics, from Wits University. In 1998, my family and I went to Vancouver, British Columbia, for me to study a Masters Degree in Theology. We returned to SA in 2002. In 2016, I graduated with a PhD in History, at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. I am currently enrolled for my TTA TEFL certificate, Level 5, to qualify and teach EFL, from April 2025.
