Hello there! Hope you are well. My name is Joshua Hailey and my pronouns are he/him. I have been an online tutor for over three years, and I hope this 'About Me' section gives you an insight into who I am and my teaching style. Before I go into more detail about who I am, I would urge you to read the reviews, (also on this page), from some of my current and past parents whose children I am teaching/have taught! These statements can help you make an informed decision and, (hopefully), choose me as your child's next tutor. I am an English Literature BA (Hons) graduate who studied at the University of Portsmouth. I also have a Masters in Modern and Contemporary Literature from the University of Leicester. With over three years tutoring experience, a strong work ethic and excellent time management skills, I have challenged and supported students across all educational stages, including primary school pupils right up to A Level students! I want your child to succeed and I truly believe they can do this! My lessons are varied, fun, but get the work done! Education is not 'one size fits all', and online tutoring is the perfect example of this. My sessions will see your child grow from strength to strength, as they learn new concepts and methods of success in their respective subject. You will not find me simply reading off a screen for the entire lesson, but you can expect interactivity to drive every single lesson that I will (hopefully) have with your child! In addition to English tuition, I also offer Primary Maths, 11+ and History. I have experience supporting students in all these subjects, and have completed them to a GCSE/A Level standard (for more information on this, please see my 'Academic Background' section). In summary, I promise to adopt a customised learning plan and positive ethos for your child across all sessions. As the parent, you deserve to feel included in your child's progress. I will endeavour to regularly update you through messages, comprehensive written reports and periodic phone calls should you want them! I am an enthusiastic and dedicated individual with a strong passion for teaching and supporting children in their academic development. I enjoy working with students of all ages, from primary school through to A-level, and I take great pride in helping learners build confidence and achieve their academic potential. Alongside my academic background, I have a wide range of interests including playing sports and cooking different recipes, which I enjoy in my free time. I am also multilingual and can speak both Bengali and Urdu fluently, allowing me to communicate effectively with students and families from diverse backgrounds. I have valuable teaching experience, having previously run my own private tuition sessions for primary school children, primarily focusing on English. I am currently expanding this to include secondary school students as well. I tutor primary school students in both Maths and English, GCSE students in English Language and English Literature, and A-level students in Finance. My goal is to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel motivated to improve and succeed. In addition to tutoring, I have worked in a primary school where I provided one-to-one support for SEN (Special Educational Needs) students, assisting them with their learning and development. This experience has given me valuable insight into different learning styles and classroom approaches, helping me tailor my tutoring to meet the individual needs of each student. Teaching is something I have always been passionate about from a young age. I strongly believe in the importance of education in shaping a child’s future, and I am committed to supporting students in reaching their full potential. I hope to continue inspiring and guiding students through their academic journeys while also progressing within my own professional career in finance. Academically, I achieved a Grade 8 in English Literature and a Grade 6 in English Language at GCSE level. I also studied Finance at A-level, achieving an A*, which reflects my strong interest and ability in the subject. I recently completed my undergraduate degree in Accounting and Finance at the University of East London in 2024, graduating with First Class Honours. Throughout my degree, I developed a strong understanding of financial principles, accounting practices, and analytical skills essential for a successful career in finance. Following my degree, I also completed a postgraduate course related to Accounting and Finance, achieving a Pass with Distinction. This has further strengthened my knowledge and reinforced my ambition to pursue a career as a Chartered Accountant in the future.

I am a third-year undergraduate student studying Psychology and Sociology, with a genuine passion for supporting young people in reaching their potential. I have hands-on tutoring experience across Psychology, Maths, Biology, and English, working with children who required additional socioeconomic and special educational support. Alongside this, I work as a Residential Support Worker with children with special needs, giving me a strong understanding of diverse learning needs and how to adapt my approach accordingly. I completed the IB Diploma with Higher Level subjects in Psychology, Politics, and English, and hold a full suite of GCSEs, providing me with a solid academic foundation across a wide range of subjects. Within my university, I serve as User Experience Officer at the Undergraduate Psychology Association, reflecting my commitment to student welfare and development. I am a native English and Swedish speaker, patient, empathetic, and dedicated to making learning accessible and enjoyable for every student. Outside of academics, I play netball, piano and love reading classic and historical fiction, which keeps me curious and engaged; qualities I bring into every tutoring session. I completed 10 GCSEs, achieving all A's and 9's, at Dulwich International School Singapore in 2022. I went on to complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma in 2024, finishing with a score of 36. My Higher Level subjects were Psychology, Global Politics, and English Language and Literature, in which I achieved 6's across the board, alongside a 6 in SL Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches, and 5's in SL Spanish and SL Biology. I am currently in my second year of a Master of Arts (BSc) in Psychology and Sociology at the University of Edinburgh, where I am due to graduate in 2028. Alongside my studies, I serve as User Experience Officer for the Undergraduate Psychology Association, where I work to improve the student experience within the department. In addition to my formal degree, I have pursued a number of enriching academic opportunities. In 2023, I completed a one-week Psychology Summer Course at King's College London, where I studied and debated topics including the DSM-V, Terror Management Theory and the Mortality Salience Hypothesis, Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, and Need-to-Belong Theory. That same year, I completed a Mental Health Warrior Awareness Training Course, a one-day programme focused on building awareness of the daily challenges associated with mental health disorders, including those that are often invisible or overlooked. In 2024, I also attended the INSEAD Business Summer School, broadening my understanding of leadership, strategy, and the intersection of business and human behaviour.

Hello! I am a maths tutor with over 8 years of teaching experience. I enjoy helping students understand maths in a clear and simple way while building their confidence. I teach students from primary level to GCSE and A Level, focusing on strong fundamentals, problem solving skills, and helping students feel comfortable asking questions. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Mathematics, where I developed strong numerical and analytical skills. I also completed an MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science with Mathematics, which strengthened my knowledge in mathematics, statistics, and logical problem solving. This academic background allows me to explain mathematical concepts clearly and effectively.
