Dear MJ, Now that we’ve wrapped up our last session, I just want to take a moment to say: thank you. Genuinely. You’ve been more than just a tutor. You’ve been sharp, consistent, and locked in every single time. Your teaching style? Straight to the point, no wasted time, no fluff. Just real value, real results. You simplified things others love to overcomplicate, and because of that, I actually feel prepared — not just to pass, but to dominate this exam.

Hello! This is Quratu Layan Choudhry. I’m a passionate and highly experienced educator with over 11 years of teaching experience across all grade levels. My primary focus is on English Language and English Literature, particularly at GCSE level, where I specialise in preparing students for the AQA exam board. I’ve worked extensively with students of all abilities, helping them to build confidence, improve their analytical and writing skills, and achieve excellent results through carefully structured, engaging lessons tailored to their individual needs. In addition to English, I have extensive experience teaching Science—particularly Biology, Physics, and Chemistry at all levels, including Key Stage 3 and GCSE. I also teach Geography, providing students with a well-rounded academic foundation across Key Stages 3 and 4. My ability to teach across multiple subject areas enables me to make meaningful interdisciplinary connections, helping students see the bigger picture and understand how different fields of knowledge relate to one another in real-world contexts. I hold a CELTA qualification from Cambridge University, a globally respected certification for teaching English to speakers of other languages. This training has equipped me with a deep understanding of how to teach English effectively, whether I’m working with native speakers or students who are learning English as an additional language. It has also enhanced my ability to break down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps for learners at all levels. My teaching style is student-centered and adaptive. I believe that every student learns differently, so I tailor my approach to suit the unique needs, goals, and learning styles of each individual. Whether I’m helping a student prepare for their GCSEs, supporting them with homework, or building core literacy skills, I strive to create a warm, supportive environment where they feel comfortable to ask questions, take risks, and grow in confidence. I make use of a wide range of teaching resources, including past papers, model answers, visual aids, and interactive activities, to ensure lessons are both academically effective and enjoyable. Ultimately, I’m committed to helping students succeed—not just in exams, but in developing the critical thinking, communication, and independent learning skills that will benefit them throughout their education and beyond. I look forward to supporting you or your child on their learning journey.
George B.
Hello, my name is George Barnes! I am a highly motivated and dedicated teacher of Science, committed to helping students unlock their full potential. I am a qualified and experienced science teacher specialising in Biology, with a proven record of delivering results at KS3, GCSE and A-level. My motivation to pursue a career in education began in 2016 when I volunteered for two months in Accra, Ghana, teaching English and introducing organised sports in a secondary school. This experience reinforced my belief in the transformative power of education and ultimately inspired me to become a qualified teacher. Following this, throughout my time as a Student at the University of Bristol, I worked as a member of the university student inclusion team as a Peer Assisted Study Leader; this role involved supporting classes of 20 first year students at the University and helping them to learn more effectively through planned activities and discussions, ultimately helping them to feel more prepared for their upcoming examinations. My passion for Biology and conservation studies has heightened my awareness of the crucial need to protect our environment. Whilst at University, this conviction prompted me to extend my exploration beyond the classroom curriculum and I was fortunate to have the opportunity to volunteer for one month at a Sea Turtle Conservation centre in Sri Lanka. This experience not only allowed me to immerse myself in a different culture but also enabled me to share my growing knowledge of conservation with local communities and work along side and learn from local experts. Additionally, my dedication to Biology led me to participate in a research project in the rain forests of Costa Rica, conducted in collaboration with the University of Bristol. This trip provided me the opportunity to design and defend a research project and contribute to ongoing research at the University. Again, here I was fortunate to see first hand the impacts of a changing world on the environment in this part of the world and learn from other leading Scientists. After graduating from the University of Bristol with a BSc in Biological Sciences, I then began working towards achieving qualified teacher status and working as a teacher of Science at a secondary school in 2020. I achieved my Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Buckinghamshire and I am experienced in teaching pupils of all ages from Year 7 through to Year 13. In 2024, I left my teaching post in order to relocate to support my partners work goals. In doing so, I have also changed my full time profession and I now have experience as a production manager and head of production in the events industry, managing international event logistics and leading team operations. However, I am still deeply passionate about science and teaching; I find helping students achieve their goals to be immensely rewarding. As a secondary school pupil myself I achieved excellent results, obtaining 12 GCSES all graded A or A*, including Maths & English, with A*'s in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. At A-level I then went on to study Biology, Chemistry, English Literature, Religious Education and also achieved an AS level qualification in Critical thinking. Following this, I attended the University of Bristol, a Russel Group university which is renowned for its world-leading research and academic excellence. Here, I achieved my undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences. Following this, I began working towards achieving qualified teacher status and took my first post as a teacher of Science at a secondary school in 2020. I attended the university of Buckingham and completed my Post Graduate Certificate in Education with a focus on Science in order to become a qualified teacher. Through my university studies, I have not only gained expert science subject knowledge but I also have an excellent understanding of the latest teaching methods to help facilitate learning and, ultimately, help pupils achieve their goals. Further to this I also have other experience in coaching and mentoring roles. In 2016, I volunteered for 6 weeks in a primary school in Accra, Ghana. My primary role was teaching English to students, but given that I have achieved a Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training and level 1 qualified rugby coach, I also helped to introduce organised sport in the school and also coached local men's rugby team, the Dansoman Hurricanes.

I am a Physics graduate from the University of Bath, where I achieved a First Class degree, and I am now completing a Master’s in Physics at Imperial College London. Over the course of my studies, I developed a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, and problem-solving, with particular interests in astrophysics and theoretical physics. Alongside my academic background, I have experience mentoring university peers and supporting GCSE students in maths, helping them to build confidence and achieve higher results. I aim to make lessons engaging, supportive, and tailored to each student's needs, focusing on both subject knowledge and exam technique. I achieved grade 9s in both Mathematics and Physics at GCSE, before going on to earn A*s in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry at A level. I then studied Physics at the University of Bath, graduating with First Class honours, where I developed strong expertise in advanced maths and physics, from quantum theory to astrophysics. I am now completing a Master’s in Physics at Imperial College London, specialising in theoretical and mathematical physics.
