Hello! My name is Emma, and I am a second-year Accounting and Finance student at Lancaster University. I achieved 9 GCSEs, ranging from 7-9, which allowed me to study Chemistry, Economics and Maths. I also gained an A* in my EPQ, which I completed in year 12, giving me crucial skills that I have carried forward to my degree. I have been tutoring for 8 months. During this time, I have helped prepare primary school students for their SATS and gained more confidence with maths in the classroom. I also prepared year 11 and 13 students for their GCSE and A levels by covering content they were unsure of and practising exam techniques. I previously gained experience mentoring GCSE students at my school. I am a student with dyslexia, so I understand the challenges students face in classroom settings. Anyone can be successful, which is why my sessions are student-led, so that they are catered towards each individual's learning style. If you are unsure of this throughout my school career, I have learnt different methods that work for me and would love to pass them on to others so that we can find a technique that works for you. I attended Rugby School, where I completed my GCSEs and A levels, and now I have gone on to study for a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance at Lancaster University, where my ambition is to become an ACA Chartered Accountant. Having studied Chemistry, Economics and Maths at A level, I offer tutoring for students up to and including year 11 in Maths and Chemistry and then Economics up to and including year 13 students.

With two years of experience teaching both in the classroom and online, I have guided students of various ages and learning backgrounds across a diverse range of subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, English, Maths HL, Maths LL, Physics, and Science. I also help students prepare for major national and international exams such as the GCSE, A-Level exams, and standardized tests. I strive to create a supportive and confidence-building environment where students not only understand the lessons but also enjoy the process of discovering their strengths and growing academically. My undergraduate years allowed me to deepen my appreciation for mathematics—not only as a subject but as a tool that trains the mind to think critically and creatively. Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Science in Mathematics at Caraga State University to further enhance my expertise and stay updated with advanced mathematical concepts and modern teaching approaches. In addition to my academic background, I am TEFL-certified (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), which has equipped me with effective strategies for teaching English to non-native speakers and supporting learners of different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. My teaching experience spans a wide range of subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, English, Maths HL, Maths LL, Physics, and Science. This diverse subject expertise allows me to guide students holistically—building their communication skills, strengthening their analytical abilities, and helping them grow across multiple areas of learning in an engaging, supportive environment.

I have over 10 years of experience in Education, learning, and development, teaching in both Primary and Secondary Schools. I specialise in teaching 11+, Social Sciences and prepping for national exams. I love helping students bridge the gap between what they currently know and what they need to know, by building confidence and resilience in their subject knowledge and approach to learning, especially in areas which they find particularly daunting. Engagement in learning is key. All lessons must be interactive to encourage learning and development. I encourage engagement through quizzes, questions, games, opinions, matching & sorting activities and use of mixed media. I adapt to different learning styles by meeting children where they are at, finding out what they currently know and using that information as a foundation to make learning accessible for them. I use assessments to track progress and plug gaps in their knowledge. My passion is to create successful learners who are able to achieve and exceed the goals they set for themselves. At A-Level, I studied Sociology (Grade A), Psychology (Grade B) and ICT (Grade C) at Southwark College. I then completed my BSc in Sociology and Criminology at City University, achieving a 2:1. I also have a PGCE in Upper Primary which I completed at Goldsmiths College. Additionally, I have a CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in Learning and Development.

Computer scientist and Human-Computer Interaction researcher with interests in qualitative research. This has naturally led me down the path of sociology. Besides this, I am an adept tutor GCSE Mathematics to bilingual students to help them achieve their goals. I attended Rochdale Sixth Form College. Here, I achieved an A in mathematics. I received an unconditional offer to study at the University of York, where I completed a BSc in Computer Systems. I specialised in Human-Computer Interaction, Qualitative Research methodologies, and User Experience research methods.
