Hi there. James here, from South Africa. I taught in London in Walthamstow for my probationary year in 1991, and then in Johannesburg and Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa for a total of 21 years. I have taught Cambridge A Level History and England and South Africa's English and History curricula. I am also a published researcher, poet, and author. I enjoy cross-country running. I like NETFLIX mystery series. I regularly get out wilderness walking and cross country swimming. Since February 2025, I tutor English and Religious Studies for GoStudent. I battled with learning difficulties at school. However, I did very well after school, because I knew that English opens doors. So, I set goals. Then I achieved a B.A (1985) and a B. Ed (1996) degree, at Wits University in Johannesburg. I did a Masters Degree in Theology (Regent College, Vancouver, B.C., 2001) and a PhD in Church History (University of KwaZulu-Natal, 2016). I believe education is a lifelong journey. We master English every day for the rest of our lives. So I'm still learning as I tutor GCSE students, A Level students, and juniors, to reach their highest goals.

Hello! My name is Ollie and I tutor psychology. I’m a recent university graduate who is looking to help others through their studies. I have a broad experience tutoring and mentoring, working with people to reach their aims and goals. I aim to keep my sessions as clear and focussed as possible, working with you during an initial meeting to set aims and priorities. This will inform the session structure going forward. I first started studying psychology during secondary school - I found it really interesting and enjoyed it, so I continued my studies at university, where I achieved a BSc Psychology degree. Whilst studying for my degree, I began tutoring the subject to peers who were looking for support. This experience of helping others develop the skills and confidence they needed was very rewarding, and something I enjoy to this day.

I'm an Electrical and Electronic Engineering student at Queen Mary University of London who enjoys helping students succeed in Maths and Physics. I explain concepts clearly, adapt to each student's learning style, and aim to build confidence as well as strong subject knowledge. I am currently studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Queen Mary University of London and will be entering my final year this September. My degree has strengthened my mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills through subjects such as calculus, algebra, physics and engineering principles. Before university, I studied A Levels in Maths, Chemistry and Physics, which gave me a strong foundation in STEM subjects. During school, I enjoyed helping younger students prepare for exams and explaining topics they found challenging. These experiences helped me develop clear communication skills and reinforced my interest in teaching. I believe every student learns differently, so I aim to adapt my explanations to suit each individual. Hello! My name is Tanya, and I'm a Psychology student with a passion for learning and helping others reach their full potential. Having benefited from excellent tutors myself, I've seen firsthand the positive impact that dedicated support can have. Today, I possess the qualities of an effective, reliable tutor, including strong communication skills and a willingness to listen. I aim to support and challenge my students equally, adapting my explanations to ensure understanding and confidence in their chosen subject. My degree has given me a strong understanding of key theories as well as research methods, including both qualitative and quantitative research methods. I have experience in designing and conducting empirical research. Throughout my studies, I have engaged in a multitude of modules, such as developmental psychology, biopsychology, personality theory and neuropsychology. I have completed coursework that relied heavily on critical analysis of academic literature. Additionally, I studied at Sandhurst Sixth form where I took Biology, Sociology and Psychology as A levels, learning and building the necessary foundations for my university years. I conducted lab tests in biology and qualitative research for both psychology and sociology. I solidified by critical thinking and my ability to efficiently understand topics.
