Hi there. James here, from South Africa. I taught in London in Walthamstow for my probationary year in 1991, and then in Johannesburg and Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa for a total of 21 years. I have taught Cambridge A Level History and England and South Africa's English and History curricula. I am also a published researcher, poet, and author. I enjoy cross-country running. I like NETFLIX mystery series. I regularly get out wilderness walking and cross country swimming. Since February 2025, I tutor English and Religious Studies for GoStudent. I battled with learning difficulties at school. However, I did very well after school, because I knew that English opens doors. So, I set goals. Then I achieved a B.A (1985) and a B. Ed (1996) degree, at Wits University in Johannesburg. I did a Masters Degree in Theology (Regent College, Vancouver, B.C., 2001) and a PhD in Church History (University of KwaZulu-Natal, 2016). I believe education is a lifelong journey. We master English every day for the rest of our lives. So I'm still learning as I tutor GCSE students, A Level students, and juniors, to reach their highest goals.

Hi I'm Toby, a first-year Political Economy student at King’s College London with A*s in A-level Economics and Politics and an A in Maths. I have experience tutoring GCSE Maths and A-level Economics and enjoy making difficult topics simple, building confidence and helping students achieve their goals. Outside of studying, I play hockey at a high level and enjoy keeping active, so I’m always happy to chat about sport too! I’m currently studying Political Economy at King’s College London. I have just started university and I am eager to help my students in a supportive way with a dynamic based on mutual respect. Outside of my studies I love to watch football, go on hikes in the South Downs and read the financial times, as I am of course interested in any developments in markets. I went to Sackville School, East Grinstead and completed 12 GCSE's and one level 2 certificate in Further Maths, all at grade 7 and above. I then progressed to my A-Levels, achieving A*AAA in Maths, Further Maths, Economics and Physics. During my time I also gained a Gold Certificate in the Senior Maths Challenge and participated in the Senior Maths Kangaroo, whilst also participating in the FCDO Next generation Economics essay competition.
