I’m a lively and creative tutor who makes learning English, English Literature, and Creative Writing exciting for students from elementary to Grade 12. I also teach elementary Geography and Biology, high school and introductory university Psychology, as well as high school Sociology. My lessons inspire curiosity, build confidence, and make learning engaging and fun! I completed my grade 12 high school diploma at Oaklands Secondary School in Cape Town, South Africa. I worked for several years as an educator at various schools in South Africa, teaching from grades 6 to 12. My subjects were English and Afrikaans at the senior level, and Biology and Geography at the elementary level. I am now completing my final year of a Bachelor of Arts degree, with majors in English and Psychology. I have also completed a certificate in The Principles of Human Resources.

I'm Sila, an aspiring Chemistry student studying at University College London :) My main goal as a tutor is to get a firm understanding on my student's weak areas and plan lessons efficiently to help them as much as possible. After a Bachelor's Degree in Translation and Interpretation and a Master's in Conference Interpreting, I have been learning languages for years now and, in 2019, I decided to pass on to my students the language acquisition techniques that helped me when learning French, Russian, Arabic, Basque and English. Here goes one: make the impossible to surround yourself with a Spanish or Hispanic environment (tutors, friends, relatives, news... > culture will boost your motivation to continue learning). I lived in Valencia, Donostia, Bilbao, Madrid and Huelva but I also lived in Bordeaux, Bergerac and Paris. I started teaching Spanish in the Spanish city of Vitoria (also known as the Basque Siberia) because I wanted to help the immigrants coming every year to start a new life in Spain. I found that the best way to help them was by teaching them Spanish so that they could communicate with others and build a brand-new life. In 2020, I started teaching and tutoring French and Spanish on digital learning platforms. Up until now, I have helped more than 90 people (all ages, students with SEND educational profiles, backgrounds and cultures) reach their goals onsite and online and have been translating, project managing and interpreting for 3 years!
