Hello my name is Carla Edmunds, I am from South Africa, I am a 36 year old English, mathematics, Biology and Geography teacher. I am a qualified preschool teacher as well as a Pastry chef. I love to travel around the world teaching my subjects as well as travel for my leisure , however teaching is my passion, I love to learn from my students as well as making sure that my students enjoy and understand their lessons for the day. I am a qualified preschool teacher as well as a pastry chef. I have taught English, Mathematics, Biology and Geography while teaching in Asia, as well as online. I have learnt so many traditional food dishes on my travels as well as sharing my home recipes I love. Hi! I am currently a 3rd year Chemical Engineering student at Imperial College London with a strong background in Maths, Chemistry, and Physics and I enjoy helping students understand challenging concepts by simplifying them in a clear and engaging way. My goal is to build confidence and make learning enjoyable. I am currently in my penultimate year of a Master’s in Chemical Engineering (MEng) at Imperial College London, on track for a First Class. I’ve excelled in key modules such as Engineering Mathematics and Reaction Engineering, and I’m a recipient of both the President’s Undergraduate Scholarship and the Faculty of Engineering UROP Bursary. Before university, I studied at Wilson’s School, where I achieved 4 A*s at A-Level in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, and 8 grade 9s at GCSE. My academic journey reflects my strong foundation in STEM and passion for engineering.

I teach senior high school mathematics at all levels, from foundational to advanced. With years of experience as a government tax specialist and roles as a system analyst, programmer, and statistician in IT, I transitioned to teaching, which has always been my passion. I began tutoring in college to support my expenses and discovered the rewarding challenge of working with a student with dyscalculia. Through tailored strategies and building strong rapport, she succeeded. My diverse background has made me resourceful and innovative, enhancing my effectiveness in both teaching and problem-solving. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from St. Scholastica’s College, Manila, where I completed challenging courses such as Calculus, Statistical Analysis, Number Theory, and Linear Algebra. I also pursued post-graduate studies in Mathematics Education at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, focusing on educational strategies and child development, with research on learning disabilities. Although I couldn’t complete my thesis due to budget constraints, I am skilled in teaching all levels of mathematics, including Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Statistics, and Business Mathematics.
