Hi there. James here, from South Africa. I taught in London in Walthamstow for my probationary year in 1991, and then in Johannesburg and Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa for a total of 21 years. I have taught Cambridge A Level History and England and South Africa's English and History curricula. I am also a published researcher, poet, and author. I enjoy cross-country running. I like NETFLIX mystery series. I regularly get out wilderness walking and cross country swimming. Since February 2025, I tutor English and Religious Studies for GoStudent. I battled with learning difficulties at school. However, I did very well after school, because I knew that English opens doors. So, I set goals. Then I achieved a B.A (1985) and a B. Ed (1996) degree, at Wits University in Johannesburg. I did a Masters Degree in Theology (Regent College, Vancouver, B.C., 2001) and a PhD in Church History (University of KwaZulu-Natal, 2016). I believe education is a lifelong journey. We master English every day for the rest of our lives. So I'm still learning as I tutor GCSE students, A Level students, and juniors, to reach their highest goals.

I’m a medical student who really enjoys learning and exploring new ideas. I love reading books, especially anything about medicine or how people and society work. When I’m not studying, you’ll usually find me running, going to the gym, knitting, or cooking something new. I also enjoy teaching younger students because I like breaking things down in a simple, fun way. I’m always curious, always asking questions, and I love understanding how things fit together. I’m a medical student with a strong academic background, having earned 9 A grades at GCSE and studied biology, chemistry, physics, and maths at A‑level.
