Hello! My name is Emma, and I am a second-year Accounting and Finance student at Lancaster University. I achieved 9 GCSEs, ranging from 7-9, which allowed me to study Chemistry, Economics and Maths. I also gained an A* in my EPQ, which I completed in year 12, giving me crucial skills that I have carried forward to my degree. I have been tutoring for 8 months. During this time, I have helped prepare primary school students for their SATS and gained more confidence with maths in the classroom. I also prepared year 11 and 13 students for their GCSE and A levels by covering content they were unsure of and practising exam techniques. I previously gained experience mentoring GCSE students at my school. I am a student with dyslexia, so I understand the challenges students face in classroom settings. Anyone can be successful, which is why my sessions are student-led, so that they are catered towards each individual's learning style. If you are unsure of this throughout my school career, I have learnt different methods that work for me and would love to pass them on to others so that we can find a technique that works for you. I attended Rugby School, where I completed my GCSEs and A levels, and now I have gone on to study for a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance at Lancaster University, where my ambition is to become an ACA Chartered Accountant. Having studied Chemistry, Economics and Maths at A level, I offer tutoring for students up to and including year 11 in Maths and Chemistry and then Economics up to and including year 13 students.

I also completed an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), researching how education strategies can be used in children’s medicine to give children and their carers better understanding of health. Techniques like “teach back,” where students explain a topic in their own words, have stuck with me as important tools for reinforcing learning. More informally, I’ve often found myself helping friends understand difficult topics, and I’ve learnt how to adapt my explanations depending on who I’m speaking to. These experiences have made me realise how much I enjoy teaching, especially when I can find the right approach to make a tricky concept click. I try to make sessions engaging but focused, and I’m always thinking about how to present information clearly and logically. Away from study, I really enjoy football - I love playing fantasy league and keeping up with scores. I also like to read non fiction (especially Wikipedia these days!) to broaden my knowledge on a wide range of topics. I look forward to helping students build confidence and enjoy learning as much as possible. I completed my GCSEs at Oulder Hill Leadership Academy, obtaining the highest grade available (9) in Maths, English Language, English Literature, Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Computer Science. I then completed my A-levels in 2024, obtaining grade A in Maths, Biology and Chemistry. As of 2025, I have been a private tutor for a KS3 student (and I am also able to teach at higher or lower levels, such as KS1, KS2, GCSE and A-Level. Alongside my A-levels, I gained a range of casual experience during college. I took part in an extracurricular programme called Maths Masterclasses, where I prepared worksheets and delivered presentations to primary school students, helping stretch their understanding of Maths beyond the standard curriculum. I was also a member of the Virtual Medical Society, working with other aspiring medical students to create presentations on topics such as medical current affairs, admission exams, and aspects of the application process. This helped me develop the ability to communicate with clarity and confidence. In addition, I completed an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and was awarded an A* for my work. My project, titled The Role of Health Literacy in Preventative Children's Medicine, deepened my understanding of the educational principles used in healthcare and how they can be applied within broader educational contexts.

I am a graduate entry medical student with a deep passion for science, how the body works and the connection between different systems. When I'm not studying and learning, I love to read, play sims and watch Law and Order! As a tutor, I hope I can help inspire a love for science and help learning become as enjoyable as I find it! I'm currently in my first year of graduate entry medicine at King's College London Branch Campus. I attained a First Class in Biomedical Science from the University of Brighton. I received a distinction in my IGCSEs at Greensprings School Lagos with subjects including Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I have a certification from the Brighton and Sussex Virtual Work Experience and I have done an internship at Chevron Corporation Limited, Lagos. I am currently doing an online Pfizer virtual work experience in tandem with my degree.
