Hello there! Hope you are well. My name is Joshua Hailey and my pronouns are he/him. I have been an online tutor for over three years, and I hope this 'About Me' section gives you an insight into who I am and my teaching style. Before I go into more detail about who I am, I would urge you to read the testimonials, (at the bottom of this section), from some of my current parents whose children I am teaching! These statements can help you make an informed decision and, (hopefully), choose me as your child's next tutor. I am an English Literature BA (Hons) graduate who studied at the University of Portsmouth. In September 2024 I am undertaking a Masters in Modern and Contemporary Literature from the University of Leicester. With over three years tutoring experience, a strong work ethic and excellent time management skills, I have challenged and supported students across all educational stages, including primary school pupils right up to A Level students! I want your child to succeed and I truly believe they can do this! My lessons are varied, fun, but get the work done! Education is not 'one size fits all', and online tutoring is the perfect example of this. My sessions will see your child grow from strength to strength, as they learn new concepts and methods of success in their respective subject. You will not find me simply reading off a screen for the entire lesson, but you can expect interactivity to drive every single lesson that I will (hopefully) have with your child! In addition to English tuition, I also offer Primary Maths, 11+ and History. I have experience supporting students in all these subjects, and have completed them to a GCSE/A Level standard (for more information on this, please see my 'Academic Background' section). In summary, I promise to adopt a customised learning plan and positive ethos for your child across all sessions. As the parent, you deserve to feel included in your child's progress. I will endeavour to regularly update you through messages, comprehensive written reports and periodic phone calls should you want them! Hi there! My name is Eve and I am currently a university student who loves learning, meeting new people and helping others. I’d describe myself as a fun and friendly person who’s always ready to laugh and I am here to make studying feel more enjoyable. I know that learning can feel intimidating or challenging, but I believe it’s all about finding the approach that works best for you. I’ve always been passionate about sport and the outdoors. Whether it’s playing football, skiing or going for a walk in nature, being active helps me stay positive, focused and motivated. I try to bring that same energy into tutoring — encouraging students to stay determined, celebrate progress, and see that every small step counts. When I’m not tutoring or being active, I love to listen to music, watching a good series and spending time with friends. I’m a big believer in work-life balance — working hard but also prioritising enjoying life and rest. I have always been passionate about learning and challenging myself academically. I have a strong academic background, having achieved 11 GCSEs and three A-levels in Biology, Geography, and Physical Education. These subjects allowed me to develop a deep understanding of how the human body functions, how we interact with the environment and the importance of health and well being — areas that continue to inspire me in day-to-day life. My A-levels built a strong foundation in scientific thinking, analysis and problem-solving, all of which I continue to apply in my current studies. I am now studying Sport Rehabilitation at university, a course that combines my love for sport, science and helping others. It has given me valuable insights into human anatomy, injury prevention and rehabilitation techniques, as well as how physical activity supports both physical and mental health. Through my degree, I’ve learned not only the theory behind human biology and movement but also how to apply this knowledge in practical, real-world situations.
