Hello. My name is Darren Beech and I have been a Science Teacher for 26 years. I have taught all three science specialisms at key stage 3 (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), Biology and Chemistry at GCSE and A level Biology. I have taught all ability ranges over these years and have had exemplary success with the students in my classes. Having left main school teacher in the summer of 2025 to care for a disabled parent, I have moved into tutoring to continue passing on my passion for science and to help continue to get students to progress through their qualifications. Having completed my GCSE;s (1992) and A levels (1995), I moved to the University of Derby to complete a BSC (HONS) degree in Biology (1998) and then onto a PGCE (Secondary science) with DeMontfort University (1999). I have then taught in 4 schools over my career as a teacher of science, where I also had additional responsibilities such as Head of Biology and Deputy Head of the 6th form.

Hi, I’m Kate Stevens, an enthusiastic and dedicated science teacher! I love helping students explore the world of science in engaging and innovative ways. My goal is to make learning science exciting through hands-on experiments, real-world applications, and stimulating problem-solving activities that spark curiosity and build confidence in my students. In my free time, I enjoy exploring nature, reading science articles, and experimenting with new ideas, which keeps my mind curious and creative. I graduated with a degree in Master of Arts in Teaching- Biology Education, where I gained a strong foundation in scientific concepts, teaching strategies, and classroom management. With 2 years of face-to-face teaching experience, I have designed and delivered engaging lessons, hands-on experiments, and interactive activities that cater to diverse learning styles. I strive to create a supportive, motivating classroom environment that encourages every student to develop critical thinking, curiosity, and a lifelong love of science while achieving their full potential.

Law graduate from the University of Birmingham with strong experience tutoring GCSE and A-Level students in Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Maths. I have worked with students across all major exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR), tailoring lessons to suit their learning styles. I focus on breaking down complex topics into clear, manageable steps and use real-life examples to build understanding and confidence. Having supported students with a range of needs, including ADHD, I prioritise patience, adaptability, and creating a supportive learning environment that drives results. I am extremely passionate about Mathematics leading me to continue studying it to a higher level at university, alongside Economics. Having passed the 11+ and gotten into The Henrietta Barnett School, as well as having achieved a grade 9 at GCSE level, I have been in the shoes of all of my students. Therefore, I am able to understand the discipline required to achieve such outcomes and am willing to tailor my teaching style to benefit each individual. Some of my hobbies include cycling, swimming, reading and sudoku! I am currently in my first year of completing a BSc in Mathematics and Economics at the University of Nottingham. For secondary school and sixth form I attended The Henrietta Barnett School, where I achieved a grade 9 in GCSE Mathematics. I completed the 11+ in 2018, where I sat exams for CEM, CSSE and HBS, passing all of them.
