Hi! I'm Michaelangelos, a mathematics graduate from the University of St Andrews (MMath) and incoming PhD student at the University of Glasgow. I've been tutoring maths for several years, including Higher and National 5, and it's something I genuinely love doing. What I care most about is helping students build real confidence and intuition, not just memorise steps. Maths can feel intimidating, and I get a lot of satisfaction from being the person who helps make it click, whether that's turning anxiety into understanding, or helping a curious student go further than they thought possible. I'm equally excited to work with students who find maths difficult and scary as I am to work with those who want to push themselves and become really strong mathematically. I am currently an incoming PhD student at the University of Glasgow, where my research focuses on dissecting neural networks, specifically regarding optimisation and generalisation. Prior to this, I completed an Integrated Master of Mathematics (MMath) at the University of St Andrews. During my time at St Andrews, I was placed on the Dean's List consecutively and achieved first-class averages in my final two years of study. I also spent an exchange year at Western University during the 2024-2025 academic year. My academic background is deeply rooted in advanced mathematics and computational science. My master’s dissertation, which earned a 90% grade and was highly commended for the Duncan Prize, focused on a posteriori methods for error control via the reconstruction technique. My key areas of study have included stochastic dynamics, statistical machine learning, financial mathematics, neural networks, and data analytics consulting. Through these experiences, I have developed strong technical proficiencies in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, SQL, and R, along with various machine learning frameworks.

As a journalist with a deep passion for teaching, I've dedicated the past seven years to guiding a diverse group of teenagers and adults on their Spanish language journey. In this role, I've honed my ability to effectively impart all four language skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. My commitment to excellence has resulted in a strong reputation for facilitating successful Spanish language acquisition among my students. As an experienced editor, I've honed my skills by refining texts for various platforms, including blogs, magazines, and social media. In my role as an Assistant Professor, I've gained extensive academic experience. Hi! I'm Lisa. I enjoy helping students build confidence and develop a deeper understanding of the material, rather than simply memorising content for exams. I believe that understanding the fundamentals is the key to long-term success, so I focus on explaining concepts clearly and encouraging students to ask questions. My goal is not only to help students achieve their target grades but also to develop the problem-solving skills and knowledge that will benefit them in further study and university. Outside of academics, I enjoy playing the guitar and listening to music, particularly Chinese artists such as Jay Chou. I graduated from St Paul’s Girls’ School for sixth form and achieved 4 A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics. I am an upcoming second year Mechanical Engineering student studying at Imperial College London. I have add around three years tutoring 1v1 and 1v2 experiences in KS3 sciences and GCSE maths.
