I am an experienced educator with over fifteen years in teaching and mentoring, now specialising in English, Psychology, and Sociology up to A-level. Hello! My name is Emma, and I am a second-year Accounting and Finance student at Lancaster University. I achieved 9 GCSEs, ranging from 7-9, which allowed me to study Chemistry, Economics and Maths. I also gained an A* in my EPQ, which I completed in year 12, giving me crucial skills that I have carried forward to my degree. I have been tutoring for 8 months. During this time, I have helped prepare primary school students for their SATS and gained more confidence with maths in the classroom. I also prepared year 11 and 13 students for their GCSE and A levels by covering content they were unsure of and practising exam techniques. I previously gained experience mentoring GCSE students at my school. I am a student with dyslexia, so I understand the challenges students face in classroom settings. Anyone can be successful, which is why my sessions are student-led, so that they are catered towards each individual's learning style. If you are unsure of this throughout my school career, I have learnt different methods that work for me and would love to pass them on to others so that we can find a technique that works for you. I attended Rugby School, where I completed my GCSEs and A levels, and now I have gone on to study for a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance at Lancaster University, where my ambition is to become an ACA Chartered Accountant. Whether you're cutting your teeth with tuition or not, you'll be in conversation with me. From our very first class, I'll lead you to explore and become your own coach, so that you can see results after the first two weeks. We don't need to learn by heart most of the things required to pass with flying colors. As your mentor, I pursue with fervor the breaking down of concepts and getting to the bottom of them. Once we achieve this, you won't have to revise said concepts ever again. - What if you find exams particularly tough? Isn't it annoying when you know the material but still can't get those marks? I offer exam preparation and methods to get those precious marks. We'll read the questions together and work on writing expression.
