About me: Hi! I’m Irene. I have been involved in teaching for 2 years, having previously worked with students age 4-16 as a teaching assistant in the UK and in Spain. My experience has allowed me to develop my confidence in teaching students from KS1 all the way up to A-level. In addition, in my second and final year at University I tutored 1st year Biology students who were struggling with the jump from A-level to undergrad, helping them develop their statistical, critical analysis and exam writing skills. I’m a third-year aeronautical engineering student who knows from experience what it feels like when lectures, textbooks, or problem sheets just don’t make sense the first (or fifth) time. I’ve been in the position where school support wasn’t quite enough, which is why I enjoy helping students bridge that gap and actually understand what’s going on, not just memorise steps. My approach is relaxed, patient, and focused on building confidence alongside knowledge. There are no silly questions here — if something doesn’t make sense, that just means it’s worth asking about as I strongly believe that asking questions is part of learning, and no one should feel embarrassed for needing things explained differently. Outside academics, I’m a big sports fan and still play football for my own club as well as my university team. I love the outdoors, animals, and generally staying active, which probably explains why I like explanations that are clear, practical, and grounded rather than overly abstract. My goal is to make learning feel less intimidating and a lot more achievable. My degree has strengthened my analytical thinking, structured problem-solving, and ability to break complex ideas into logical, easy-to-follow steps — skills that translate directly into effective tutoring. Hi! My name is Fariha Delwer and I’m a medical student at Queen’s University Belfast with a real enthusiasm for teaching and helping others learn. About you: I'm a PhD graduate and have experience teaching at a wide range of ages. I have a keen interest in films and play bridge. I have even played bridge for England. I have both a Masters degree and PhD from the University of Sheffield in mathematics. While at university I assisted in running tutorials for undergraduate students. As an assistant demonstrator I led classes through an example question at the front while encouraging them to take part in working through the problem together. I also answered any questions they may have had individually. For certain modules I marked the students’ homework.
