Hi! I’m Liyaa. I’m a first year medical student with a special interest in psychiatry and obstetrics/gynaecology. I’ve joined the GoStudent team so that I can share my expertise and advice with students who need it and to be a massive support in such a huge chapter of your lives! My highest qualifications so far are my a levels. I did biology, chemistry and psychology, alongside an EPQ, in which I achieved all 3A*’s and 1A. Before moving to London for university, I lived on a farm in Wales with my family - and many cats! Due to babysitting my two younger cousins for the last five years, I have realised that I love to work with children. I am in awe of their ability to view the world from a perspective so different from the regular adult we encounter every day. My favourite book of all time is 'Silence of the Girls' by Pat Barker. This novel is an essential read, not only for women, but also the male population. It illustrates how the current state of affairs within the international sphere replicates modern day phenomena, with violence against women repeatedly being used as a weapon of war. Thus, my interest in gender-based scholarly studies and the international feminist movement is continually growing. Whilst I love to read in my spare time, I also enjoy singing and meeting new people. However, when I am not singing or socialising, I enjoy playing table tennis and badminton with my older brother. Not only this, but I love fashion and keeping up with the latest trends.
