Connor W.

New tutor

Hi everyone! My name is Connor, I am a PhD candidate in Cardiovascular Disease, Licentiate of the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and the student representative for the Faculty of Pharmacology, Physiology & Neuroscience (PPN) at the University of Bristol. In my spare time, I am often walking my two dogs and cat (yes, you did read that correctly), tending to our small, modest garden or brushing up on my paintwork. My tutoring methods are highly individualistic and learner-centred: it is all about you and your aspirations, as it rightfully should be. By incorporating a holistic approach, we will work together on building your confidence, learning how to effectively manage stress and how to tackle difficult exams questions, regardless of the topic. As a previously undiagnosed and unsupported learner with ADHD, growing up in an isolated community and later, becoming a full-time carer, I frequently heard that "further study isn’t for people like me". After achieving First-grade classifications in my BSc in Biomedical Science, MSc in Pharmacology & Drug Development and the IBMS President's Prize for outstanding achievements, I beg to differ. I am now confident that no tutee should ever feel as if further study "isn't for people like them". I can personally testify that learning does not have to be a painful, slow and frustrating experience it is frequently portrayed as. Let me help you achieve your goals, “re-learn how to learn” and discover your scientific passion through reliable, engaging and tailored tuition.

I am excited to teach you biology. The subject of biology is very interesting and arguably the most influential subject you will study. This is because it allows us to gain knowledge about ourselves, our health, and our environment. My teaching styles include explaining topics as well as demonstrating concepts through visuals (images). When I write on my iPad, I share the screen with the students so they can see what I am writing and get a better understanding of the concepts. As well as traveling to twelve countries, I lived and studied in Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Malaysia, Poland and Italy. Also, I love extreme sports like Bungee jumping and cliff diving. I also enjoy aerial photography as well. I teach regularly online & face-to-face and the languages taught are English, French, German & elementary Arabic. After many years in French-speaking Europe, north Africa, the Arabian Gulf, Chile & central Asia, I now live near Durham, UK, and have had a very wide range of student types, ranging from young learners under 10 to mature business people learning a language for their retirement. Although language teaching is my main activity, I can also teach PC windows-technique, Microsoft utilities, and a few GCSE subjects. My EFL (English as a Foreign Language) specialities are IELTS preparation for both Academic & General Training candidates. After completing an Ordinary National Diploma in Engineering, I chose to do a Computer Science degree at N. Staffordshire Polytechnic because it was possible to study French intensively alongside. This meant that the 3rd (industrial) year had to be spent in a French-speaking country and in my case that was Switzerland, where I spent a year at CERN in Geneva. To become an English language teacher I obtained the CTEFLA in Geneva in 1995 and went on to study for the DELTA.

New tutor

I am an experienced educator with over fifteen years in teaching and mentoring, now specialising in English, Psychology, and Sociology up to A-level. My academic background includes a BA in Sociology, a diploma in Counselling, ACCHP accreditation, and I am currently completing a Master’s in Psychology at the University of Portsmouth. This academic journey, combined with my teaching experience, allows me to provide learners with both subject expertise and practical strategies to achieve success. In English, I focus on building strong foundations in reading, writing, and critical analysis, helping learners gain the confidence to express themselves clearly and effectively. My Sociology and Psychology teaching draws on my academic knowledge and real-world insights, making lessons engaging and relevant by connecting theory to contemporary issues and everyday life. I believe that every learner has unique strengths, and I adapt my teaching style to meet individual needs. My counselling background helps me create a supportive environment where learners feel comfortable to ask questions, take risks, and develop resilience. Organised, approachable, and enthusiastic, I encourage students not only to meet their academic goals but also to grow in confidence and independent thinking. Above all, I am committed to inspiring curiosity, developing critical skills, and empowering learners to reach their full potential in their chosen subjects. My academic background reflects both a strong commitment to education and a passion for understanding people, society, and the human mind. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Education from Griffith University, Australia, where I developed a foundation in social theory, educational practice, and the ways in which learning is shaped by cultural and societal factors. This degree gave me valuable insights into both the structures of society and the transformative power of education. Building on this, I undertook a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling, which allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of human behaviour, communication, and emotional wellbeing. This qualification provided practical tools for supporting individuals and groups, strengthening my ability to create learning environments that are empathetic, inclusive, and responsive to different needs. Currently, I am completing a Master’s in Psychology at the University of Portsmouth, with only the final stage remaining. This advanced study has deepened my knowledge of psychological theory, research, and application. It has also enhanced my analytical and critical thinking skills, and further developed my ability to connect theory with practice. Studying at postgraduate level has reinforced my commitment to lifelong learning and prepared me to bring a high level of academic and practical expertise into my teaching. Taken together, these qualifications demonstrate not only my academic achievement but also my dedication to education, psychology, and counselling—fields that all intersect in my work as an educator and tutor.

Sahil G.

New tutor

Hi there! My name is Sahil, a first-year undergraduate student at the University of Warwick studying Economics. I have been tutoring students online in Maths, Physics and Economics from all over the world for over 2 years in interactive and engaging 1:1 lessons. My teaching style focuses on learning content first before applying it to questions. Therefore, lessons will consist of content learning which includes detailed notes on the topic and in-depth walkthroughs of every single question type relating to that topic. This would be followed by practise questions on that topic first with assistance in the lesson and then homework to be completed without assistance to test if the teaching has been successful. I particularly specialise in exam preparation and give my students regular tests to ensure content learned is tested throughout, this way there is less stress on crammed revision which has been proven to boost exam performance. I have tutored Maths from KS3 all the way up to GCSE and A-Level and I also specialise in Further Maths tuition. I have also tutored in Economics at A-Level. Through my experience over the last 2 years, I am up to date with most exam board content and curriculum changes so my lessons are completely relevant to current mark schemes. In an exam environment where it is even harder to get the top grades due to the consequences of grade inflation over the past few years, I would love the opportunity to really help and push your child to achieve their full potential in their studies.
