My studies gave me a strong foundation in all areas of physics, along with biology and medical applications like imaging, radiation therapy, and anatomy. During my MSc, I worked as a Medical Physics Assistant and Research Assistant, gaining hands-on experience in both clinical and academic settings. After that, I spent a year doing research at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) – part of the United Nations – where I also gave lectures and workshops on physics and science to people of all skill levels. I’m now doing a PhD in Medical Physics at VUB in Brussels, focusing on computational and biological physics—combining research, problem-solving, and my love for teaching. Teaching has been a big part of my journey. I tutored first- and second-year students during my undergrad, taught students at GoStudent during COVID, and I’m excited to be back tutoring now. Hi, I’m James Farrow and I am 18 and studying at LSE. My course is pretentiously named International Social and Public Policy with Politics and it encapsulates my adoration for all things maths, politics and economics and I would love the opportunity to pass on my interests to others. I tutor GCSE Maths and A-level Politics Exam board experience: Edexcel and AQA I have experience tutoring KS3 and sixth-form (11-18) My main aims as a tutor are to engage students with content that challenges them in a rewarding way, but also connect them to content that facilitates a change in their mindset. My hobbies range from poker and chess to schooling my friends at the pool table. They would say I’m competitive but that’s an advantage as it means I strive for greatness and even I fail the process and its lessons are invaluable. To grow academically requires set-backs and knowing how to respond appropriately is vital. That along with a quality education is what I am to instil in your student. Hi! My name is Raphaelle. If you want to make sense of the challenges in chemistry, maths, or biology, I am the right person to ask. Scientifically minded, I will give you the tools and techniques needed to understand and master difficult concepts that may seem obscure to you. I also enjoy expressing my creativity through playing the violin and painting watercolour, and these activities provide me with an outlet for my stress. I’m not the best at sports (I have zero coordination) but I still have fun even when making a fool of myself! As a tutor, I will not only share my knowledge and study techniques with you, but I will also endeavour to make my lessons interesting and engaging. Observing the improvements in my tutee's performance is the most rewarding part of tutoring. I firmly believe that excelling in a subject is a question of hard work, as well as confidence and self-belief; and I hope to inspire these qualities in you. I am 20 and I am currently a third year medical student at Newcastle University. I'm originally from France, but I grew up in Dubai, where I studied under the British curriculum. Although chemistry and biology were my two favourite subjects at school, I also enjoyed the challenge of maths and physics, where I achieved A* in my A-levels, and 9s in my GCSEs. I passed my ABRSM level 8 in the violin with a Merit and I have played the instrument for 10 years. I am fluent in French and English, and conversational in Spanish (CEFR level B2).

I have always been passionate about teaching Chemistry, Psychology, and Biology, and I have been tutoring these subjects for over a year. It has been incredibly rewarding to witness students grow in confidence and develop a genuine enjoyment for subjects they once found challenging. My goal is to continue helping students improve their grades by making learning engaging and accessible. When a subject feels difficult, it can be discouraging to persevere, which is why I strive to create a supportive and enjoyable learning environment. As a tutor, I believe in adapting my teaching approach to each student’s unique needs, ensuring that they find the subject both approachable and interesting. I have achieved 10 GCSEs, in which I received: a Grade 9 in Chemistry, 3 Grade 8’s in Physics, Food Preparation and Nutrition and Geography. 3 Grade 7’s in Biology, Maths and German and 3 Grade 6’s in English Literature, English Language and Religion, Psychology and Ethics. I have also achieved 3 A-levels and received: an A in Chemistry, an A in Psychology, and an A in Biology.

Next year I am going to the University of Exeter to study sports science, after taking a few years out of education due to COVID. At GCSE level I got predomantly 8's and at A levels I got awarded ABB from the government (though if I took the exams I would have gotten higher). Outside of education I love anything to do with sports, whether that be playing them or just watching them. I am a avid gym goer and used to be a Great British athlete when I was 14-16! Now however, I just casually play sports for fun, with my favourite sports being rugby, swimming and waterpolo. Also in the Summer, I love to spend most of my time down the beach surfing!

Chemistry tutoring: geared towards individual learning goals
It’s not surprising that many students struggle with chemistry. It’s a complex subject with an intense curriculum, and teachers don’t always have the time to answer questions, repeat information or go into in-depth explanations. This can result in students falling behind in their work, with parents often unable to help.
GoStudent’s chemistry tutors offer one-to-one lessons tailored to your child’s needs and addressing any areas that they may have difficulty with. This leads to improved understanding, which builds confidence and leads to better exam results.
The advantages of studying chemistry
Chemistry is a branch of natural science that studies the properties of matter, the changes they undergo and the natural laws that describe these changes.
The better you understand chemistry, the better you can understand everyday processes around you – for example, what happens to food when we cook it, or how do storms and thunderstorms develop?
Chemists observe and research these constantly-occurring processes to draw insights that lead to new knowledge and technologies.
Chemistry can open doors to many careers, depending on specialisation. Some examples are:
What topics can be covered in online chemistry classes with a qualified tutor?
