Hi, I'm Elsie! I am a third year medical student at UCL, currently intercalating to complete a BSc in Maths and Computing. I took Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Further Maths at A Level, achieving A*A*A*A respectively. Having had some tutoring myself during my GSCE period, I know how much of a nerve wracking experience it is for both students and parents, with my lessons focusing on teaching best based on the students learning style, I hope to put those nerves at ease. Above are the list of subjects I teach and at which level. Academics aside, I like to keep active by training boxing and have fought to an amateur level. I also enjoy constructing model kits (Gundam) and speak Korean fluently as although I was born in the UK, my parents came from South Korea. As well as obviously chemistry being a large component of my degree, physics, mathematics and biochemistry were an integral part of my studies as well. I am currently studying Medicine at the University of Plymouth. From a young age I have always enjoyed helping others as it brings happiness and joy to me. For 6th form, I was accepted by The Cherwell School, where I completed my A-levels. At GCSE level science I achieved a grade 8/8 and at A-levels I achieved grades A in both Biology and Chemistry. In my first year of UCAS application, I did not receive any offers to study Medicine at University. However, towards the end of summer I came across an opportunity to study medicine through an alternative route. The University of Plymouth were offering a one-year transfer from Biomed to Medicine providing one achieved 3 As at A-levels, maintained a 70% pass rate across all modules in 1st year and passed the interview for Medicine. In the previous year only 2/23 applicants were successful in this route. Although this was intense, I was able to successfully transfer from Biomed to Medicine after the 1st year. This year I just completed my 1st year as a Medical student at the University of Plymouth

As a Chemical Engineering student, my academic journey is rooted in the fundamentals of sciences and mathematics. I developed a great foundation in sciences by studying double science, mathematics and other subjects for GCSEs and biology, chemistry and mathematics for A-levels. This lead to paving the path for my pursuit in higher education. During my A-levels, I loved sciences more and I always found it intriguing. I delved into biological intricacies and developed a deep understanding of molecular biology, human biology and ecology. I still utilize these lesson in my chosen course by understanding the interactions between biology and biochemical processes and bio-processes in chemical engineering. There are also other concepts I still learn and advance my knowledge in, such as chemical reactions and thermodynamics among others. This means I am equipped with essential chemical principles. I utilize mathematical concepts to solve problems in my chosen field. I have knowledge in calculus (differentiation and integration are necessary in mathematical modelling and reactor design in chemical engineering), trigonometry, compound shapes, Pythagoras Theorem, angles, algebra and other complex equations. I also have some knowledge in statistics, though it is not my strong point but I will be able to help.
