I am currently training to become an English teacher, having gained extensive experience working with pupils with a wide range of needs—including SEN, EAL, and behavioural challenges—through previous roles as a tutor and SEN Teaching Assistant. I believe that every student has the right to a high-challenge education, regardless of their current attainment and specific learning needs. Reading and analysing literature helps us understand how stories capture the beauty and pain of human experience, a skill which every child should have the opportunity to develop. I was awarded a Distinction from University College London, where I completed a Master’s in Comparative Literature with a focus on Modernism and the Philosophy of Language. Prior to that, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in English, after which I worked as a Research Assistant and led a seminar on literature and philosophy.

I was born in Norwich, England and completed my schooling in South Africa. I have a passion for teaching and I believe that we are capable of learning so much more when we are enjoying ourselves. I have a clear and easily understood accent and I cannot wait to meet you in the classroom where pronunciation, good grades and fun are the name of the game. I enjoy helping children overcome difficulties with speech and interpretation of the English language. I am qualified to teach English children(TEFL) and adults (CELTA). I have completed more than 7,000 practical lessons or 2,500 hours of teaching students online. I have 5 years worth of informal face-to-face teaching in a SundaySchool classroom. I have 20 years worth of experience training adults in the telecommunications sector. I successfully completed my first year of teachers training in 1979 and had to stop due to ill health.

Hello! I'm Catherine. My favourite book as a child was 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe,' and I've been in love with the written word ever since. With my degree in English Literature and Creative Writing under my belt, I now use my writing skills to run a successful copywriting and marketing business, but I also spend a lot of time training my clients and running evening classes for local women in business. I found that teaching and helping others brought me a lot of joy and fulfillment, which is why I decided to become a GoStudent Tutor. Hi, I'm Shannon. I'm originally from Northern Ireland but I have lived in Scotland, France, Spain and now I reside in sunny Manchester. I have taught English, French and Spanish in Secondary Schools for the last few years. I believe that teaching cultural aspects alongside language is vital and I find that using music and TV are excellent ways to stay engaged with a language too.
