I attended the same school for sixth form where I attained grades in A-Level Maths, Chemistry and Biology. After sixth form finished in 2022, I shortly attended Coventry University to study Occupational Therapy, but realised it was not the right course for me and took a gap year. I currently attend Birmingham City University and am almost finished with my second year of BSc Diagnostic Radiography. I hope to graduate in 2026 and qualify as a Licensed NHS Radiographer shortly afterwards.

What is Key Stage 2?
Key Stage 2 (KS2) is the term used to refer to the second stage of a child’s primary education and covers Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. Children are typically aged between 7 and 11 years old in KS2.
What subjects are covered at Key Stage 2?
Children are taught the following subjects:
Schools must also provide Religious Education, although parents can ask that their children are taken out of part or all the lessons.
The focus of Key Stage 2
Maths and English are the focus of Key Stage 2 as they are considered gateways to future learning. In English, children progress from reading with a focus on comprehension to grasping overall concepts through age-appropriate literature. They learn how to craft well-punctuated and structured sentences and express their ideas clearly. In Maths, children should be able to perform calculations with increasingly large and complex numbers, including long division and multiplication. They will also use measuring instruments like rulers and make connections between measurements and numbers. That’s not to say the other subjects aren’t important for a well-rounded education. For example, science covers the basics of biology, physics and chemistry, and an understanding of the world is introduced in history and geography. Computing is considered essential in today’s world.
Tests and assessment
Children take exams known as SATs (Standardised Assessment Tests) at the end of KS2 in the following subjects:
The SATS results are used to assess progress in English and maths and measure school performance.
How to choose a KS2 tutor
Key Stage 2 is a crucial stage in your child’s education as it builds a foundation in core skills and prepares them for the more demanding requirements of secondary education. If your child is struggling in one or more subjects or lacks overall motivation and confidence, it’s important to address these issues before they start falling behind in their learning. The SATs are culmination of work over the whole of KS2 and not just Year 6, so your child will benefit from tutoring at any stage. It’s important to choose an experienced KS2 tutor who can offer lessons adapted to your child’s specific needs and who will provide you with regular feedback on their progress. At GoStudent, our tutors offer adaptive learning, where lessons, readings and practice activities are personalised towards the individual child and based on their current skills and performance. They also offer interactive and engaging lessons that will keep your child’s interest – and could spark a love for learning that will last through their academic career and beyond.
Is private KS2 tuition affordable?
Your child can get KS2 tuition for as low as £21.99 per session. The price of each private tuition session depends on how regularly and for how long your child takes tuition with us. Book a free trial session with us and you can find out how affordable private tuition with GoStudent can be for you.
How many other levels does GoStudent offer other than KS2 tuition?
As well as private KS2 tuition, GoStudent can help your child with 11 other levels. Pick from many subjects including Geography, History, German. And with GoStudent your child isn't tied into one level. If they are taking KS2 tuition but then need support with a different level, we can help them get that support with a tutor specialised in that level.
How can private KS2 tuition help your child?
GoStudent tutoring can benefit students of all ages and school levels, including KS2. Whether your child is working towards better grades, improving their confidence at school, or building on their interests, GoStudent can find the right tutor for your child to get the most out of school. We do this by finding the perfect match between students and tutors. We take the time to ensure a good match between our pool of tutors and your child’s personality, learning habits and hobbies. Our KS2 tutors always try to find innovative ways of teaching to pique your child’s interests, including using videos, computer games or music depending on their learning style. We offer a highly individualised and personalised service, meaning that every child gets the right tutor for them, based on their specific needs and learning style. Find out how your child can take advantage of these benefits by booking a free trial lesson.
