Medicine reject at A-level who decided to pursue biomedical sciences instead to explore several career routes in science. Upon further exploration through experiences in healthcare, decided to give medicine one more chance as a postgraduate degree and recieved an offer from Oxford for medicine. Interests include music, gaming and travelling. Tutoring GCSE and A-level Maths and Sciences for over 4 years helping over 40 students achieve their dream grades with a mean result improvement of 2 grades. After moving to the UK in 2015, I pursued my GCSEs which I completed in 2019, achieving five 9s, four 8s and two 7s with 9s in Maths and Sciences. I realised my passion for science and decided to pursue Biology, Chemistry and Maths for A-levels where I achieved 3A*s. After being rejected from medicine, I decided to complete a BSc in Biomedical Sciences at UCL, achieving a 1st Class Honours. During my degree I realised my passion lies in medicine and decided to try one more time by changing key parts of my application. Luckily, I received offers from Oxford and Warwick for Graduate-Entry Medicine.

I am a professional tutor with significant teaching experience in Economics and Business Studies. I have a strong passion for teaching and helping others succeed academically and personally. I enjoy sharing knowledge with others and making a positive impact on a student's life and academic journey. My desire is to help students overcome academic challenges and achieve their full potential. Lower Level: Mathematics GCSE: Mathematics Exam Board Experience: Edexcel Languages: English (Fluent), Filipino (Native) Preferred Student Age Group: Any About me: I study mechanical engineering at Queen Mary University of London (a member of the Russell Group universities). Whether we acknowledge it or not, maths and science are all around us in many obvious and invisible ways from how your wifi sends and receives data to how planes can fly. I chose engineering because it allows me to put my knowledge of maths and science to practical use in being able to create something in the real world. Everything man-made you can think of is the product of engineering. Because of this, knowledge is power, and with the right knowledge and tools, anyone can design anything. I aim to inspire students by making learning enjoyable, through a process that is at the student's pace - no pressure - and showing real-life applications in a topic to both prove its usefulness and to hopefully spark an interest in the subject. I will make sure that the student actually understands a topic so that they can not only answer standard exam questions easily but so that they can also use their solid knowledge of the topic to answer unfamiliar, "tricky" exam questions. Truly understanding a subject or topic in combination with a real interest in it can stick with someone for a lifetime. Being able to truly learn something happens when someone wants to, not because they have to. I also love music. I like to sing and play the guitar and piano.

I am an experienced educator with over fifteen years in teaching and mentoring, now specialising in English, Psychology, and Sociology up to A-level. My academic background includes a BA in Sociology, a diploma in Counselling, ACCHP accreditation, and I am currently completing a Master’s in Psychology at the University of Portsmouth. This academic journey, combined with my teaching experience, allows me to provide learners with both subject expertise and practical strategies to achieve success. In English, I focus on building strong foundations in reading, writing, and critical analysis, helping learners gain the confidence to express themselves clearly and effectively. My Sociology and Psychology teaching draws on my academic knowledge and real-world insights, making lessons engaging and relevant by connecting theory to contemporary issues and everyday life. I believe that every learner has unique strengths, and I adapt my teaching style to meet individual needs. My counselling background helps me create a supportive environment where learners feel comfortable to ask questions, take risks, and develop resilience. Organised, approachable, and enthusiastic, I encourage students not only to meet their academic goals but also to grow in confidence and independent thinking. Above all, I am committed to inspiring curiosity, developing critical skills, and empowering learners to reach their full potential in their chosen subjects. My academic background reflects both a strong commitment to education and a passion for understanding people, society, and the human mind. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Education from Griffith University, Australia, where I developed a foundation in social theory, educational practice, and the ways in which learning is shaped by cultural and societal factors. This degree gave me valuable insights into both the structures of society and the transformative power of education. Building on this, I undertook a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling, which allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of human behaviour, communication, and emotional wellbeing. This qualification provided practical tools for supporting individuals and groups, strengthening my ability to create learning environments that are empathetic, inclusive, and responsive to different needs. Currently, I am completing a Master’s in Psychology at the University of Portsmouth, with only the final stage remaining. This advanced study has deepened my knowledge of psychological theory, research, and application. It has also enhanced my analytical and critical thinking skills, and further developed my ability to connect theory with practice. Studying at postgraduate level has reinforced my commitment to lifelong learning and prepared me to bring a high level of academic and practical expertise into my teaching. Taken together, these qualifications demonstrate not only my academic achievement but also my dedication to education, psychology, and counselling—fields that all intersect in my work as an educator and tutor.

What is Key Stage 4?
Key Stage 4 (KS4) comprises Year 10 and Year 11, when students are aged between 14 and 16. During this time they are working towards their GCSEs (General Certificate of Secondary Education), which are a gateway to further education and career paths.
What subjects are covered in Key Stage 4?
The national curriculum offers the following subjects:
Compulsory subjects that must be taken by all students are:
Schools must also offer at least one subject from each of these areas:
Academic students may be encouraged to take the English Baccalaureate, or EBacc. This is not a separate qualification, but a combination of six different GCSEs: English, maths, two sciences, a language and either history or geography.
Schools must also provide relationships, sex and health education and Religious Education (RE). Parents can ask for their children to be taken out of sex education lessons and all or some of RE lessons.
What is the focus of KS4?
The focus at KS4 is around preparing pupils for their transition to post-16 provision at the end of Year 11, for example A-levels, BTECs or the International Baccalaureate (IB).
Most students work towards national qualifications, usually their GCSEs. This is when they will start to study subjects that align with their strengths, interests and future goals, and at a greater depth than they have been able to before.
How to choose a KS4 tutor
Many students struggle with the one-size-fits-all approach often found in classroom settings. This can lead them to develop a negative mindset towards learning and a loss in confidence in their abilities. They can fall behind in their schoolwork and lose the motivation to put in the required effort to succeed.
KS4 tutors can provide targeted support in specific subjects where students may be struggling or need extra help to excel. This can be especially helpful if the student has special educational needs such as ADHD or dyslexia.
While most final exams take place at the end of Year 11, coursework and assessments are completed throughout the stage, so it’s important students always perform to their full potential.
GoStudent tutors have expertise in specific subject areas on the curriculum and offer a personalised approach tailored to individual needs, strengths, and weaknesses. They can close knowledge gaps, keep learning on track and help with exam preparation.
In addition, they can teach effective study techniques and time management strategies which can significantly improve performance, not only in KS4 but for the rest of the student’s academic career.
