I've also attended several executive education or professional development courses in Statistical Analysis, Climate Change Risk in Finance and Project Management from Imperial College London, University of Edinburgh and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) respectively, amongst others. Whether we acknowledge it or not, maths and science are all around us in many obvious and invisible ways from how your wifi sends and receives data to how planes can fly. I chose engineering because it allows me to put my knowledge of maths and science to practical use in being able to create something in the real world. Everything man-made you can think of is the product of engineering. Because of this, knowledge is power, and with the right knowledge and tools, anyone can design anything. I aim to inspire students by making learning enjoyable, through a process that is at the student's pace - no pressure - and showing real-life applications in a topic to both prove its usefulness and to hopefully spark an interest in the subject. I will make sure that the student actually understands a topic so that they can not only answer standard exam questions easily but so that they can also use their solid knowledge of the topic to answer unfamiliar, "tricky" exam questions. Truly understanding a subject or topic in combination with a real interest in it can stick with someone for a lifetime. Being able to truly learn something happens when someone wants to, not because they have to. I also love music. I like to sing and play the guitar and piano.

Hi! I’m currently studying a maths engineering degree at university and I can’t wait to use the skills I’ve learned to help students with maths and science. I understand what it’s like to struggle with a STEM subject, so I approach my tutoring from a place of patience and sympathy. When a student doesn’t understand a concept, I focus on finding out exactly what piece of the puzzle they are missing, and will re-explain the idea in a way that works for them, as everyone learns differently! For secondary school I attended South Hampstead High School and took my GCSE’s and A Levels there. For my GCSEs I received a nine in maths, English literature , all three sciences, geography and computer science, and an eight in French, art and English Language. For my A levels I received an A star in maths, further maths and physics, and an A in computer science. Currently I’m loving studying an Engineering Mathematics degree at the University of Bristol and I just completed my first year. I’m set to do an integrated masters there as well.

I used to teach my juniors in university and have continued to do that after I have graduated. I love biology, especially genetics; an interest which I have pursued by completing an MSc in Molecular Medicine in Sudan. During my Molecular Medicine degree, I developed an interest in cancer, so I applied for- and got accepted into an MSc in Cancer Sciences at the University of Glasgow. This turned out to be one of the first decisions I have ever made, as it gave me a solid foundation upon which I am currently building my academic career. I have won a few awards so far, one of which is ‘Best Research Paper’ award, which was in recognition of my outstanding achievement and command of research by the end of my MSc in Molecular Medicine. I have been awarded a few grants and scholarships and have met former president Barak Obama as part of the programme I had on one of the leadership courses I undertook in the US. Currently, I research the use of artificial intelligence in diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of colorectal cancer which will greatly impact the quality of care that patients receive. My hobbies are archery and programming using Python, in addition to graphic design, web design and web development.

My name is Hannah and I studied English language and linguistics. I also studied the following A levels: Spanish, Psychology and Geography. I love to play the instruments such as the piano for fun and reading. I have a passion for encouraging and supporting students in their learning and to achieve their greatest potential! I have a BA in English language and linguistics, a dissertation in the effectiveness of microlearning through the platform Youtube, in learning Spanish (inspired by my UROP Project). I am currently working in the education sector as a SEN TA, supporting children in their learning. Receiving some training in understanding autism at schools and special needs. I have done a UROP project at the University of Reading, investigating microlearning using social media to learn the English language.
