Hi! I'm Jenna, a recently graduated Psychology student with a passion for learning and helping others achieve their full potential. As a determined problem-solver, I have always loved maths - the satisfaction I get from solving a particularly difficult problem is what makes it my favourite! From solving algebraic equations in early GCSE to working out financial budgets for my university life, maths has always been exciting for me. Hopefully I can share this passion with you, and have some fun along the way. I have some tutoring experience across a range of contexts, from helping year 7s struggling with secondary school maths topics, to regularly assisting university students with psychology questions. At the forefront of my focus is a student's inherent grasp of the topic. I will continually check your understanding, and I am willing to approach the topic from a different angle in order to elevate your understanding and knowledge. I am determined to help you in any way that I can so you can achieve your personal academic goals and importantly, boost your confidence in your own mathematical ability. There are no stupid questions in lessons with me - I will encourage you to stick with it and keep asking for help and guidance until you could do it in your sleep! It's not always about top grades: a solid understanding of mathematical concepts and familiarity with numerical rules come first, but good marks almost always come hand in hand with this. Hi! My name is Nikitah. I am currently studying Medicine (4th year) at Newcastle University. I have also completed a BSc degree in Biomedical Sciences from Durham University (2.1). Hello there! My name is Rajvir and I am a former student who has studied Maths, Further Maths and Physics at A-levels. I used to be a student who had struggled a lot at the start of Year 12 (the start of my A-levels) and found it quite difficult to catch up at first. However, I was fortunate to be surrounded by a bunch of talented people too who were willing to help me learn. Through doing so/experiencing this, I've gained an insight into what it's like to be on the receiving end as a tutee. I've then used these teaching techniques of mine to help others around me improve and motivate them into striving to do better in Maths too. I find satisfaction and joy in knowing I can help make a tedious subject seem a tad bit more bearable and can help find the "inner mathemetician" in people I support. I generally tend to take a casual approach when teaching and work hard questions at the start after teaching basic concepts to find the weaknesses of those I tutor and have found this to be quite effective in the past!! My name is Rob and live in Menai Bridge. I studied a degree in Physics and Maths at Newcastle Upon Tyne University. After working in industry as a geophysicist, i went to Southampton University to study a masters degree in oceanography. Then a PhD specializing in the observations and modelling of internal waves, graduating in 2001. After a number of post-doc positions involving satellite remote sensing of the oceans, my career took a different direction. Firstly, i worked for a small startup company in Edinburgh, that developed novel techniques for electromagnetic sampling at sea, with the aim to infer the presence of hydrocarbons below the seabed. After a few years, the company got bought out by a Norwegian exploration company (PGS) and i transferred to working on seismic exploration ships. I have used my physics and mathematics background extensively during my career. I now wish to pass on my understanding to help students to discover the joy of doing physics. My other passion is playing guitar and mandola in a gigging band, that we started up over the last 2 years of lockdown. We have now put together 24 original songs, enough for 2 recorded albums. We are aiming to produce at 4 track EP demo, to be recorded at a local music studio. I also enjoy walking in our local mountains and along coasts.
