New tutor

Hi my names Owen. I’m a dedicated and approachable tutor with 2 years experience ans a strong passion for helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals. I specialise in breaking down challenging concepts into clear, manageable steps, particularly in Maths and Physics , so students not only understand the content but also feel comfortable applying it independently. My lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, whether that’s strengthening core knowledge, improving exam technique, or working through past papers. I aim to create a supportive and engaging environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions and make real progress, helping them reach their full potential. I hold a First Class degree in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Warwick, where I developed a strong foundation in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and advanced mathematical concepts. I have also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Mathematical Finance at the University of Birmingham, further strengthening my quantitative skills and applying mathematics to real-world contexts. Alongside my academic background, I have over two years of experience running my own tutoring business, working with GCSE and A-Level students in Maths, Physics, and Chemistry. This has allowed me to support students of varying abilities, helping them improve their understanding of key topics, build confidence, and develop effective exam techniques through structured lessons and past paper practice. My approach focuses on breaking down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps and adapting explanations to suit each student’s learning style, ensuring consistent progress and long-term understanding.

New tutor

Hello! My name is Shruti and I have always been fascinated by technology and how it shapes the world we live in. I have a strong passion for mathematics and science. I enjoy the challenges of solving complex problems and finding different solutions, which strengthen analytical thinking as well as problem-solving skills. I believe this is very important because it helps us to understand problems better and enables us to break them down into smaller, more manageable parts, which is also very crucial to learn. This also allows us to evaluate options logically instead of just guessing. Alongside this, I love listening to music. Listening to different genres helps me to relax and stay motivated; it also enhances my focus, concentration and memory. For me, music also works by blocking out distractions and creating a very steady rhythm for the brain to follow, which further increases my level of concentration. I also enjoy learning different languages because I believe this helps with connecting to different people from diverse backgrounds. Cognitively, learning a new language strengthens memory, problem-solving skills, as well as concentration. Altogether, these skills helped me to build confidence and independence. Therefore, I became better at explaining new ideas clearly and in an easily understandable way. I also became better at learning new things and finding solutions quickly to different problems. This is extremely essential in fields like engineering and tutoring! Throughout my academic years, I have attended Queen Mary's High School, and after that, I attended Queen Mary's Grammar School for sixth form. Currently, I am a first year Computer Engineering Student at the University of Birmingham.During my school years and university so far, I have completed assignments, projects which have helped me to develop my analytical thinking skills and experience explaining difficult concepts easily. Furthermore, I have also done mentoring before in school, where I was teaching maths to a GCSE student, and this also enabled my skills to improve and gave me more experience of teaching.
