Hello, my name is Kirsty. I am currently a PhD student at the University of Manchester studying maternal and fetal health. At secondary school I always enjoyed learning about Science and Maths, so after my GCSEs I decided to study A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths. Following this, I went to the University of Manchester to study Biomedical Sciences. Here I spent three years learning about various aspects of Biology such as Anatomy, Physiology, Neuroscience and Biochemistry. From my lectures I began to grow an interest in maternal and fetal health, which I pursued by completing my master's in reproduction and pregnancy. As well as increasing my knowledge about biology I also learnt laboratory skills and how to conduct experiments. I am now doing my PhD whilst also teaching undergraduate biology students at the university. Outside of academia I also enjoy going to dance classes, hiking and baking.

I have a PhD in physics from Newcastle University. I was a visiting researcher at the University of Cambridge and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). I am therefore highly qualified to teach STEM subjects. I have extensive experience (100 hours) teaching Maths to GCSE students online. I have also taught Physics and Maths to A Level students for several years during summer schools. I have also led modules for undergraduate students in Physics at all stages.
