In 2022, I gained a first-class honours degree in Immunology, Infection and Cell Pathology at UCL. I was additionally awarded the David Katz Project Presentation Prize for my Neuroscience research project at the Francis Crick Institute. I have attended seven schools in four countries (Munich, Berkley, Los Angeles, Tokyo, St Andrews), which gave me a wealth of experience with different educational systems. Prior to starting university, I worked for two years as a laboratory intern in one of the world-leading virology laboratories at the University of St Andrews, focussing on novel vaccines and antiviral treatments. I am bilingual (English and Russian), and also fluent in Japanese. I am a qualified Japanese-English translator and have worked as an online translator for many years. In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis and had been a first-team captain of both the UCL medical women's team and the London inter-university teams. I'm Sannah, I'm from Kent and I'm 22 years old. I've just graduated from the University of Cambridge with a Master's in Chemical Engineering. Outside of studies I'm a cyclist racing at a professional level. I've raced all over the UK and Europe at some of the world's biggest races and I love being able to see so many countries! Hello, I'm Jonathon, I'm an experienced tutor and teacher of Science (and occasionally P.E) with a passion to ensure that all students are able to reach their full potential. I qualified as a teacher in 2021 and I have been teaching and tutoring in Science (and P.E) since then and I have experience with the four major exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC) and at both the foundation & higher tiers for combined and separate science. Outside of teaching/tutoring, I spend most of my time travelling or involved with sport. My academic background includes a PGCE in Secondary Education (specialising in Science), a BSc (Hons) degree in Applied Sport and Health Science as well as an FdSc degree in Sports Science and Injury Management. I am a BSc Biochemistry graduate from the University of Birmingham and an incoming first-year medical student at the University of Dundee. I offer tutoring specifically in GCSE Biology and GCSE Chemistry, using my strong academic background in both subjects to help students understand difficult concepts and improve their confidence. My interest in tutoring began at secondary school, where I worked as a Science Tutor supporting GCSE students in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I focused on identifying why students might not be achieving the grades they were aiming for, whether this was due to difficulty understanding certain concepts, gaps in their knowledge or challenges with exam technique. I could then tailor my support to address the specific issue. This experience taught me the importance of recognising different learning styles. For visual learners, I used diagrams and visual representations to make scientific processes easier to understand. For students who benefited more from verbal learning, I used simple language and broke complex concepts down step by step. I also created clear and digestible revision resources to make large topics feel more manageable and help students revise independently. At university, I volunteered in drop-in sessions supporting first-year Biochemistry students, particularly with writing laboratory reports and using RStudio for data presentation and analysis. Having already completed first year myself, I was able to draw on my own experiences and mistakes to help students avoid similar difficulties and develop more effective approaches to their work. Alongside my final year of Biochemistry, I completed the demanding medical school application process. This involved preparing my application and personal statement, studying for the UCAT and preparing extensively for Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs). My interview preparation also required me to develop my understanding of current medical and NHS topics and practise communicating my ideas clearly under pressure. Balancing this preparation with my final-year degree commitments significantly strengthened my time-management, organisation and independent learning skills and ultimately led to me securing a place to study Medicine at the University of Dundee. I also volunteered as a Reading Partner at secondary school, supporting students with dyslexia with their reading and writing. This experience developed my patience and empathy and reinforced that every student progresses differently and may require a different approach. Together, my academic background, science mentoring and experience progressing into medical school have prepared me to provide personalised GCSE Biology and Chemistry tutoring, helping students strengthen their scientific knowledge, improve their exam technique and become more confident in their abilities.

Hi! My name is Anushka Thomas and I am a second year Biomedical Science BSc Student at King's College London. I am specialising in Immunology and Infectious Disease and am particularly interested in drug discovery and public health. I am really passionate about studying and communicating science in a clear and engaging way! Attended Northampton High School (GDST) where I obtained 99998 in GCSE Chemistry, Biology, Physics, English language and Maths. I then went on to complete A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. I have completed Year 1 of my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science where I studied the following modules: Anatomy, Physiology, Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry, Cell Biology and Neuroscience, Chemistry and Pharmacology.
