Hi there! I'm Tami Okono, and I'm excited to be your tutor. I'm currently studying Economics and I'm in my final year at University. I'm 20 years old and I really like the colour green. When I'm not studying, you can usually find me cooking up something tasty or playing table tennis. Prior to this, I attended Steyning Grammar School in the UK, where I studied Mathematics, Economics, and Psychology for my A-levels. These subjects provided me with a strong analytical foundation and a deeper understanding of human behavior, which are invaluable assets in the field of economics. Before my time in the UK, I completed my early education through secondary school at Greensprings School in Nigeria, where I developed a passion for learning and a global perspective on education.

I’ve been tutoring for over 3 years, working with students across a range of levels to build strong foundations in English and Maths. I specialize in GCSE (Foundation and Higher) and 11+ exam preparation. I have a genuine passion for education and love helping students grow in confidence and ability. In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, learning new languages, and exploring different cultures. I believe in creating a positive, engaging learning environment where every student can thrive. I have successfully completed my Bachelor's degree in Labor Economics at the Armenian State University of Economics and subsequently acquired my Master's degree in International Management from Buckingham University. Additionally, I have achieved certification as a Mental Arithmetic Teacher.

After 20 years of secondary school classroom teaching in English and History, I am branching out into online teaching. I taught in London, at Walthamstow for my probationary year in 1991, and have since taught in South Africa, in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. I run Parkrun, grow and sell organic vegetables, and enjoy wilderness walking. After A Bachelor of Arts in History and English, at Wits University in Johannesburg in 1984, I did a postgraduate Higher Diploma in Education, in English and History. I then taught in London and South Africa for nine years, during which time I qualified with a Bachelor of Education in Applied Linguistics, from Wits University. In 1998, my family and I went to Vancouver, British Columbia, for me to study a Masters Degree in Theology. We returned to SA in 2002. In 2016, I graduated with a PhD in History, at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. I am currently enrolled for my TTA TEFL certificate, Level 5, to qualify and teach EFL, from April 2025.
