Here, I developed key skills which proved extremely useful for their progress e.g., altering my communication to their level of understanding while giving relatable and fun examples, ensuring that the students are actively engaged by asking continuous questions to assess their understanding, and each new lesson I conducted with each student was started with a quick recap of the previous lesson. I noticed that these small steps proved extremely useful in the long run for the child's academic progress. Through exposure to tough situations as well as reading books on the topics I have honed my emotional intelligence and communication skills which I have since applied to provide help in various avenues such as education. I've had leadership roles such as Headboy of the school and thus have developed strong rapports with students who look at me as a role-model as well as their parents, especially during information evenings where I had conversations on how "parents could best support their children". As a fluent English and Italian speaker, I've acted as a bridge and advocate for foreign students to make them feel integrated in the community. This has also proved useful when teaching students who's first language isn't English as my fluency in another language allowed my to better understand the students I've worked with. I am a published author who is passionate about writing short stories as means of expressing issues that many children are faced with. One such issue is bullying and I have published a book titled Scars the Bullies and The Bullied which aims to inspire readers to take action against bullying. I will work alongside my students, supporting them along each step of the way so that in the end, they can excel; not solely academically but also in life. I am a first year biomedical science student at Queen Mary University of London. I have a passion for science and mathematics and enjoy being able to help others achieve their unique goals. I have had a years worth of experiencing in tutoring people between the ages of 5 and 16 years old and I am looking forward to being able to work with a wider range of students. I then studied my A Levels (maths, biology and chemistry) at Southend High School for Girls where I achieved ABB. I am now currently in my first year of studying an undergraduate degree at Queen Mary University of London for biomedical sciences.
