Hi - I'm Maria! I have just finished my degree in Biochemistry and Genetics from the University of Sheffield and I love Science. I have a passion for sharing my knowledge, owning a YouTube channel in which I make A Level Biology revision videos. Aside from academics, my main passion is Muay Thai (Thai boxing) and I train up to 10 times per week!! I hope to fight professionally one day. My favourite artist is Green Day. I have just graduated from an MBiolSci degree in Biochemistry and Genetics from the University of Sheffield. I also have A Levels in Biology, Chemistry, and Spanish. I am currently a psychology undergraduate, aspiring to become a psychology teacher! My aspiration to become a teacher arises from a deep commitment to helping others realise their potential through learning. Throughout my studies, I have consistently taken satisfaction in supporting my peers to grasp challenging concepts, particularly in research. These experiences revealed how rewarding it is to guide others towards understanding and confidence. Teaching offers an ideal opportunity to combine my enthusiasm for psychology with my desire to make a meaningful contribution to young people’s education. In my spare time I like to read books, mostly romance and sometimes play games on my console. My current degree in psychology has given me a strong scientific foundation and a skill set highly relevant to teaching psychology. The subject itself is rooted in the scientific method, forming hypotheses, designing experiments, collecting data, and analysing results, all of which are central to understanding and teaching psychology effectively. Through my degree, I have developed strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, as well as the ability to interpret data and explain complex theories clearly. Working on research projects such as mind-wandering and facial recognition has deepened my appreciation of how psychological principles can be applied in real-world contexts. These experiences are directly transferable to teaching psychology, where curiosity, critical thinking, and clarity are key to engaging students and helping them succeed.
