Hello! This is Quratu Layan Choudhry. I’m a passionate and highly experienced educator with over 11 years of teaching experience across all grade levels. My primary focus is on English Language and English Literature, particularly at GCSE level, where I specialise in preparing students for the AQA exam board. I’ve worked extensively with students of all abilities, helping them to build confidence, improve their analytical and writing skills, and achieve excellent results through carefully structured, engaging lessons tailored to their individual needs. In addition to English, I have extensive experience teaching Science—particularly Biology, Physics, and Chemistry at all levels, including Key Stage 3 and GCSE. I also teach Geography, providing students with a well-rounded academic foundation across Key Stages 3 and 4. My ability to teach across multiple subject areas enables me to make meaningful interdisciplinary connections, helping students see the bigger picture and understand how different fields of knowledge relate to one another in real-world contexts. I hold a CELTA qualification from Cambridge University, a globally respected certification for teaching English to speakers of other languages. This training has equipped me with a deep understanding of how to teach English effectively, whether I’m working with native speakers or students who are learning English as an additional language. It has also enhanced my ability to break down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps for learners at all levels. My teaching style is student-centered and adaptive. I believe that every student learns differently, so I tailor my approach to suit the unique needs, goals, and learning styles of each individual. Whether I’m helping a student prepare for their GCSEs, supporting them with homework, or building core literacy skills, I strive to create a warm, supportive environment where they feel comfortable to ask questions, take risks, and grow in confidence. I make use of a wide range of teaching resources, including past papers, model answers, visual aids, and interactive activities, to ensure lessons are both academically effective and enjoyable. I have been tutoring online since April 2018, predominantly helping overseas students learn English as a foreign language. Curriculum has ranged from Oxford Reading Tree to Reach, using a variety of subjects to help their learning process. Having been diagnosed with severe dyslexia when I was young, I have always had an affinity with those who struggle with education, and have had to develop my own way to learn efficiently, and use this experience to help others. I also hold an HND in music production, and have previously tutored 9 to 15 year olds Djing and music production.

Hi! I'm Izy, and I recently completed my degree in Applied Linguistics at the University of Warwick - BA Language, Culture and Communication. I previously tutored younger children at my high school, and have since taught ESL in Peru, Ecuador and Mexico. I thoroughly enjoy both teaching English as a second language, and tutoring English subjects in the UK. I completed A-Levels in History, English Language and Maths (A*A*A), and am hoping to work as a paediatric Speech and Language therapist, after completing my Masters. I am competent in AQA Exam Boards. At University I competed at an international level for music, and really enjoy reading and learning new languages in my free time! I am currently obtaining my 120-hour TEFL certificate, as well as my Level 2 Understanding Autism qualification. I attended a state school, receiving eight grade 9s, and two grade 8s at GCSE, and A*A*A at A-Level (History, English Language, Maths). I recently graduated from the University of Warwick with a 1st Class BA Hons in Language, Culture and Communication (Applied Linguistics), completing a dissertation in phonetics & phonology.

Over 500 lessons taught to over 20 students in this platform Keen on helping students learn the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in biology and chemistry for both A-level and GCSE exams My teaching experience includes teaching assistant position at a biology lab at Georgia State University (United States of America) for 4 semesters as well as teaching different techniques to lab groups at the institution I am currently enrolled in doing my PhD. I have also delivered over 500 lessons on this online platform to over 20 students seeking help for their GCSE, OCR, WJEC, and AQA A-level exam boards in both chemistry and biology. While my experiences both as a student and as a teacher have developed my communication skills by using the proper tone and terminology, I value the most having learned from the doubts and questions from my past students as well as having done many final past paper questions. Despite every student being different, experience helps tremendously. Some students are very advanced and prefer working on past paper questions by tackling some specific aspects of the exam board, while some others require a bit more work on some modules and require a session more akin to covering a variety of concepts. When teaching new concepts, I use self-made PowerPoint slides specifically designed to incorporate the knowledge required to succeed in the exam questions for that exam board. In these slides, I use a scaffolding teaching technique which is about covering fundamental learning outcomes prior moving towards the more advanced concepts. I also incorporate past paper questions in every lesson to ensure the student is engaging in proactive learning, and not simply passively listening to me talk for 50 minutes. Overall, my goal is to engage the student in his or her own learning by teaching them skills and by giving them greater focus in some areas of each module. A lot of concepts are covered in these exam boards but knowing where to place great emphasis surely fosters their learning. This is where experience teaching these exams really comes into play, and it will also help me quickly devise the best study plan for the student. To complement my online teaching sessions, I have a digital pad that enables me to quickly write notes, draw or paste diagrams to ensure the lesson is smooth and dynamic. Online teaching may seem, at first glance, limited in terms of being able to write notes, however, currently online learning has been greatly updated thanks to such devices. I am currently only teaching biology and chemistry from GCSE and A-level exams but not higher levels (i.e. not teaching university programs). Like many teachers, my personal preference are students that are keen on learning regardless of their starting point. However, I have taught students that needed motivation coming from me and I was able to help them significantly.
