Hello, my name is Helen and I have a BA degree in Criminal Justice Studies from Bradford University. The degree's main subjects were Criminal Law, Psychology, and Forensic Science. My hobbies include watching football, playing tennis, reading, and walking my dog. I have been an online tutor for 3 years. I have taught as an ESL tutor. During this time I have taught people of various ages and abilities. I create a positive learning environment. I personalize learning and create lessons that respond to students' interests. I equip students with the confidence and skills needed to incorporate technology into English language classrooms and for future jobs and life in general. I regularly assess the progress, strengths, and weaknesses of my students and by doing this, I help them fill gaps in their knowledge and learn best. I have a TEFL certificate worth 120 hours of study. I also hold GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths. I also have 4 A - levels including History and Geography and a degree, which I finished in 2003. I celebrated graduating by going to the US.

My name is Jason. I would describe myself as patient, approachable, and motivated and understand that every student faces challenges in their own way, so I always try to create a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and pushing themselves further. Tutoring has taught me not only how to guide others academically but also how to encourage resilience and independent thinking. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy cooking and sports, which often inspires the way I teach and connect with learners. My goal as a tutor is to help students see that with the right approach and mindset, they are capable of achieving far more than they might believe and make it a more enjoyable experience. I've had past experience as a tutor supporting GCSE students in Maths and Chemistry. During my time at St Olave's Grammar School, I discovered a passion for helping others learn by tutoring younger students, both one-on-one and in small groups. I focused on breaking down challenging topics into clear, manageable steps and tailoring my explanations to match each student’s learning style. This approach helped my students improve their grades, develop stronger study habits, and build the confidence needed to succeed in their exams. My specialisations are in Maths and Chemistry, where I particularly enjoy guiding students through problem-solving techniques, exam preparation strategies, and practical applications of theory.

Helping others has always been something Ive tried to do wherever possible and is one of the main reasons why Ive tutored in the past and also why I want to become a Doctor. I am a determined and goal orientated individual who enjoys achieving fulfilment through completing tasks and activities. I can be quite competitive but never to mine or my teams detriment as the greater goal always outweighs personal gain. Football, swimming, cricket and basketball are some of my favourite sports and I like to believe that my love of sports and playing them has increased my communication, cooperation and leadership skills. I think a lot of the attributes I have developed through roles and experiences I have had in life can help me achieve success both as a tutor and hopefully as a future Doctor. I am currently studying medicine at university and wish to become a paediatric surgeon in the future. I obtained my GCSEs at Lister Community School achieving 9 A*-A and 2 B's. I attended Brampton Manor Academy for my A levels where I did Biology, Chemistry, Physics and AS level Mathematics. I am also familiar with the grammar school entry exams (11+) as I sat them myself as a child and have tutored kids for them in the past
