My name is Mark Sean A. Manubag, and I hold a degree in Chemistry. For the past two years, I’ve been teaching and tutoring high school and college students, mainly in math, chemistry, and physics. I love making complex topics feel simple and approachable for learners at different levels. As a teacher, I am patient, supportive, and goal-oriented. I believe in guiding students step by step until they feel confident in themselves. One of my strengths is breaking down difficult concepts into clear, relatable ideas. Seeing students progress—from struggling on quizzes to celebrating their own achievements—is what inspires me to teach. My teaching style is interactive and student-centered. I enjoy connecting lessons to real-life examples, whether through cooking, music, or everyday situations, so that learning feels both meaningful and fun. I’ve found that when students can relate to a topic, they learn faster and remember it longer. Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading, exploring different genres of music, and learning languages. At the moment, I’m studying Italian, which helps me stay in touch with the challenges of being a learner myself. That perspective allows me to connect more deeply with my students and encourage them to see learning as a lifelong skill. Teaching, for me, is about helping students discover their own potential. I want my learners to not only improve their grades but also develop the confidence and curiosity that will benefit them well beyond the classroom. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. During my studies, I gained extensive training in laboratory instrumentation, including GCMS, FTIR, AAS, and UV-Vis, and completed internships with the Food and Drug Administration of the Philippines, the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, and the Philippine–Japan Active Carbon Corporation. My undergraduate thesis focused on the spectrophotometric determination of phenolics from plant extracts, which strengthened my background in analytical chemistry. After graduation, I successfully passed the Philippine Licensure Examination for Chemists in September 2014. Alongside my academic journey, I began working as a freelance tutor between 2012 and 2014, supporting high school and college students in mathematics, chemistry, and other sciences. Many of the students I taught came from institutions with advanced science and math programs, while others needed help building foundational understanding. Through one-on-one lessons, I developed a teaching approach that emphasized patience, step-by-step guidance, and real-life applications, helping students not only grasp concepts but also build confidence in their own abilities. This tutoring experience deepened my passion for education and showed me the impact of making complex topics simple and engaging. I take pride in seeing students’ progress—from struggling on exams to achieving strong results. Teaching continues to be a meaningful part of my career, complementing my professional work as a chemist by allowing me to share knowledge and inspire curiosity in the sciences.

I have availability for students Mondays and Wednesdays daytimes only. I also work with students on a weekly basis at a minimum to ensure momentum and consistency for the student. I have been an educator and trainer for over 17 years and love nothing more than seeing students achieve their goals. I am a scuba diving instructor as my main role and work all over the world. I enjoy watching Netflix and love diving even when I am not in work. I have been lucky to see a lot of the world through all my roles during my career. I tutor 11+, English up to the end of year 9 only and also tutor mathematics and science up to GCSE. I have knowledge of all UK countries curriculum and also the German curriculum. I myself completed the 11+ equivalent when younger and understand the commitment and learning that is needed to succeed. My favourite subjects in school were maths, science and physical education. I am also experienced in working with children with additional learning needs.

As a passionate and dedicated Electrical Engineering student entering my third year, I have not only mastered core technical subjects but have also discovered a genuine enthusiasm for explaining these complex concepts to others. My academic journey has equipped me with a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, and fundamental engineering principles. I understand the challenges students can face with these demanding subjects because I navigate them daily myself. This allows me to connect with learners, identify their specific stumbling blocks, and break down intimidating topics into clear, manageable steps. I believe patience and clear communication are just as important as technical knowledge, and I am committed to helping students build both confidence and competence. My experience extends beyond solo achievement. Through countless group projects and study sessions, I have honed my ability to collaborate and explain ideas to peers with different learning styles. This has solidified my belief that a supportive, encouraging environment is key to academic growth—a philosophy I know aligns with the values at GoStudent. My well-rounded personality, which includes the teamwork of soccer, the discipline of running, and the focus found in reading, helps me connect with students on a personal level. I am not just a tutor; I am a mentor who understands the pressures and goals of being a student. Ultimately, my family-oriented background has instilled in me the values of patience, encouragement, and the importance of helping others succeed. I am eager to bring this supportive and dynamic approach to GoStudent, and I am excited by the prospect of helping my peers unlock their potential and achieve their academic goals in subjects like Math, Physics, and introductory Engineering. My educational journey has provided me with a strong and diverse academic foundation, culminating in my current specialized field of study. I began my studies at Cenaturi Combined School, where I attended from Grade 1 through Grade 7. This formative period was crucial in instilling in me the core principles of discipline and a lifelong love for learning, particularly in mathematics and science. For my secondary education, I attended Thohoyandou Secondary School, where I further developed this academic focus. The rigorous curriculum in subjects like Physical Science and Advanced Mathematics was instrumental in preparing me for the challenges of higher education and solidified my ambition to pursue a field rooted in technical problem-solving and innovation. I am currently advancing my studies at the University of Johannesburg, where I am enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering program specializing in Electrical Engineering. My coursework has provided me with a deep and practical understanding of key engineering principles. I am actively developing specializations in several core areas, including: Electronic Circuit Design: Analyzing and designing analog and digital circuits. Power Systems: Understanding the generation, transmission, and distribution of electrical power. Signal Processing: Learning techniques to analyze and manipulate analog and digital signals. Engineering Mathematics: Applying advanced mathematical concepts to solve complex engineering problems. This technical knowledge, combined with the fundamental skills built throughout my schooling, allows me to confidently tutor subjects like Mathematics and Physical Science. I can explain not only the 'how' but also the 'why,' by connecting school-level topics to their real-world engineering applications, making learning more engaging and meaningful for my students.

Passionate about chemistry and helping students achieve their potential and beyond. I am a young teacher, with a vast knowledge of chemistry at the KS3, KS4, and KS5 level. This is evidenced by my A grade at both GCSE, and A level. I place a large emphasis on breaking critical concepts down, ensuring students have a sound understanding of foundational aspects of chemistry- which will then allow them to tackle more difficult subject topics. All of my teaching is relevant to the exam board in question, and there is also a large focus on exam technique to ensure you're hitting those top marks! In terms of my hobbies, I love going to the gym, playing sports such as badminton and kickboxing, reading, and playing Call of Duty.
