Hello! My name is Ria, and I am a Chemical Engineering graduate with Honours from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where I completed my degree in November 2025. I am passionate about education and enjoy helping students build confidence in their abilities. While I primarily tutor Mathematics, I can also assist with Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. I am comfortable teaching learners from Grade R through Grade 12, although I particularly enjoy working with younger students between the ages of 6 and 12, as this is such an important stage for building strong academic foundations. Throughout my academic journey, I have informally tutored family members, friends, and classmates from high school through to university level. These experiences taught me that every student learns differently, which is why I tailor my teaching style to suit each individual learner. I graduated with a Chemical Engineering degree with Honours from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) in South Africa in November 2025. Throughout my studies, I developed a solid foundation in mathematics, physics, chemistry, process engineering, and analytical thinking, while also learning how to approach complex problems in a logical and structured manner. Chemical engineering is a challenging and multidisciplinary field that combines scientific principles with practical problem-solving to design and improve industrial processes. During my degree, I studied a wide range of subjects, including advanced mathematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, reaction engineering, process control, and process design. These subjects strengthened both my technical knowledge and my ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively. One of the most rewarding aspects of my academic career was participating in research and design projects. I worked on a biogas enrichment research project that focused on improving the methane content of biogas through water scrubbing techniques. This project involved laboratory work, experimental design, data analysis, and technical presentations. Through this experience, I developed strong analytical, research, and communication skills while gaining hands-on laboratory experience. In addition, I completed several engineering design projects involving distillation design, reactor design, process simulation, process optimisation, and process control. These projects required the use of engineering software and the application of theoretical knowledge to real-world engineering challenges. They also strengthened my teamwork, problem-solving, and project management abilities. Throughout my academic journey, I have regularly assisted family members, friends, and classmates with their studies, ranging from school-level mathematics and science to university-level engineering concepts. These experiences helped me develop a patient and adaptable teaching style and reinforced my passion for education. My academic background has equipped me with not only strong technical knowledge but also the ability to explain concepts in a clear, engaging, and accessible way. Hello, my name’s Benjamin. I’m patient, approachable, and passionate about maths and physics. I’ve always enjoyed talking about the subjects I love, partly because I think they’re really cool, but also because I believe it’s important to be curious about the world around us. My approach to learning is based on understanding things from first principles. I think it’s much better to build strong foundations than to simply memorise facts or methods without really knowing why they work. If you understand something properly, you shouldn’t have to remember very much at all and that makes learning a lot easier and more enjoyable. I also like connecting concepts to real-world examples, as this can make abstract ideas feel much more concrete. For example, Faraday’s law helps explain how wireless charging works! As a tutor, I aim to make lessons clear, engaging, and supportive, helping students build confidence as well as knowledge. I completed my A-levels at Bristol Grammar School in Physics, Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry, achieving A*A*A*A. In Year 12, I also gained a distinction in the Advanced Extension Award in Maths. I am now in my final year studying Physics at the University of Oxford.

Hi, I’m Sophie! I love teaching Maths and English, and have experience in tutoring students from 11+ to A Level. I achieved straight 9s in my GCSEs and A*s and As in A Levels, and have a particular interest in the philosophy of mathematics. My lessons focus on breaking down challenging ideas into manageable, clear steps, while building the confidence and problem-solving skills needed to succeed in exams. First and foremost, I approach teaching with genuine enthusiasm and a passion for the subject, and I hope to inspire that same curiosity in my students. I think that gaining confidence is fundamental to succeeding in any subject: even those which can initially feel difficult or intimidating can become genuinely enjoyable once they are explained in the right way. I’m happy to tutor Maths from Key Stage 3 through to GCSE, helping students build confidence, strengthen their understanding, and prepare effectively for exams. For English, I tutor students from Key Stage 3 through to GCSE as well, including support with essay writing, analysis, and exam preparation. I can also provide support with EPQs and coursework, helping students develop ideas, structure their work, refine their arguments, and improve their written expression. Alongside tutoring, I love reading, learning about AI and swimming in the sea in Cornwall. I’m also currently learning Python and Spanish! I attended a high school in London with an academic scholarship, achieving ten grade 9s and GCSE and 98% in an Additional Maths qualification. I then studied Maths, Further Maths, English and Latin at A Level, achieving A*s and As. I wrote an extended thesis that was awarded 100% on recursion in mathematics and literature, and plan to study the philosophy of mathematics at university.
