I am Jithmi Linara and I am currently a third-year student pursuing Aerospace engineering at the University of Liverpool. I am a very passionate and enthusiastic individual, and I would also say very hardworking. I do love swimming and spend an hour or two in the water when I have some free time. As a National swimmer, swimming has always been my burning passion. The experience of representing my motherland at various championships in the sporting arena has also taught me to relish challenges and work together with my teammates to achieve a common goal. I was the headhouse prefect and student representative at my school and this role as a leader made me what I am today. I was and still am a public speaker, I also have the ability to speak and communicate effectively with diverse groups of people with respect. I was given the opportunity to work as a student counsellor at a leading organization and this experience led me and shaped my personality as well and enabled me to maintain a positive attitude towards anything. I am an effective tutor. I’ve worked with SEN students including students with; dyscalculia, ADHD, dyslexia and autism. Whether you are looking to increase your grade by a little, or a lot I am here to get you to that full potential. I can teach GCSE maths. I work based on the students’ needs and I am very much able to adapt to their preferred learning style. As I am a visual learner myself, I work with students particularly through diagrams, visual aids and in depth examples, drawn on interactive whiteboards as well as analogies to explain concepts required for their curriculum and more importantly, the final exam. Practice exam and past paper questions are key to unlocking the higher grades, and so I always integrate questions throughout the teaching of content during lesson to ensure the student understands and digests what they have learnt properly through application, you will never be short of exam practice in one of my lessons, as that is how the real exam will be like. There is always an open door policy to ask whatever questions you need to, whether that is in or out of lesson time, no question is too big or small.
