Preferred Student Age Group: GCSE About Me: Hi! I’m Lorien, and I’m currently preparing to begin my university studies after recently completing my A Levels. Assuming everything goes well on Results Day, I’ll be heading to Cambridge or Warwick University to study English Literature. I love both English and Maths, and studied both at A Level. In English, I enjoy reading into a text and finding deeper meanings to better understand the writer’s intentions and message. In Maths, I enjoy working through difficult questions, and using my problem solving skills to reach the answer. My hobbies include reading and writing, crochet, and anything creative. I have worked with young people previously, volunteering as a Young Leader and, more recently, a Unit Helper in Girlguiding. I was also a reading ‘Super-tutor’ in my school’s reading programme, designed to help Year 7 students boost their confidence and skill in reading, meaning I would step in to cover for any tutors who were absent when they planned to meet with their assigned tutee, and I oversaw the running of the programme as a whole. I really enjoy seeing students develop and become more confident in their own abilities as tutoring progresses, and would love the opportunity to work with you and help you to achieve success in your studies! I attended a high school in the North East for my GCSEs, achieving Grade 9s in Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Business, Design and Technology, French, and Geography, and Grade 8s in English Language and English Literature. I stayed at my high school to complete my A Levels in English Language, English Literature, and Maths, and will receive my grades in August 2025. I plan to go to the University of Cambridge in September to study English Literature, assuming I achieve the grades required in my offer.

Hello, my name is Jess I am currently studying Neuroscience at university. In Sixth form I studied sociology, psychology and biology A-levels and still have a strong passion for these subjects. I enjoy working with others and ensuring alongside learning there is lots of fun and interactive sessions. I attended Long Road Sixth Form Cambridge to gain A-level biology, psychology and sociology. I am now studying Neuroscience at the University of Dundee which incorporates what I learnt at A-level. Once finished this degree I am to go into medical school.

Hi there. James here, from South Africa. I taught in London in Walthamstow for my probationary year in 1991, and then in Johannesburg and Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa for a total of 21 years. I have taught Cambridge A Level History and England and South Africa's English and History curricula. I am also a published researcher, poet, and author. I enjoy cross-country running. I like NETFLIX mystery series. I regularly get out wilderness walking and cross country swimming. Since February 2025, I tutor English and Religious Studies for GoStudent. I battled with learning difficulties at school. However, I did very well after school, because I knew that English opens doors. So, I set goals. Then I achieved a B.A (1985) and a B. Ed (1996) degree, at Wits University in Johannesburg. I did a Masters Degree in Theology (Regent College, Vancouver, B.C., 2001) and a PhD in Church History (University of KwaZulu-Natal, 2016). I believe education is a lifelong journey. We master English every day for the rest of our lives. So I'm still learning as I tutor GCSE students, A Level students, and juniors, to reach their highest goals.
