My name is Santosh Gopalan, I am a second year student at the University of Surrey studying Economics BSc. I am a friendly Economics student who tutors maths hoping to inspire students to love the subject and make sure that they strive to get the top grades. I have studied GCSE Maths and achieved grade 8. Nice to meet you! My name is Abdul, and I am a medical student at the University of Manchester with a strong interest in education. I achieved top grades at GCSE and A level, and I would love to help you learn effectively. I am an amicable individual who takes pride in my ability to understand, work with and assist others. During sixth form, I took part in a project called Maths Masterclasses, where I helped design and deliver lessons to primary school students. Planning my presentation required careful thought about structure, clarity, and how to challenge the students beyond their curriculum. I also completed an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), researching how education strategies can be used in children’s medicine to give children and their carers better understanding of health. Techniques like “teach back,” where students explain a topic in their own words, have stuck with me as important tools for reinforcing learning. More informally, I’ve often found myself helping friends understand difficult topics, and I’ve learnt how to adapt my explanations depending on who I’m speaking to. I was also a member of the Virtual Medical Society, working with other aspiring medical students to create presentations on topics such as medical current affairs, admission exams, and aspects of the application process.
