Hello! I specialise in tutoring Biology and Chemistry from GCSE to A Level. I focus on making complex concepts clear and accessible, using explanations, examples and strategies that suit each student’s learning style. I’m passionate about helping students strengthen their understanding, improve exam technique, and grow in confidence. I aim to make lessons enjoyable, productive and personalised to each learner’s goals. I studied at the University of Nottingham, completing a BSc in Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine. My degree gave me strong foundations in cellular biology, molecular pathways and biomedical science, with particular interest in pharmacology and neuroscience. My dissertation involved both laboratory work and bioinformatic analysis of proteins, strengthening my practical skills and ability to interpret scientific data. I also have experience working in pharmaceutical analysis, giving me insight into real-world applications of biochemistry. In addition, I hold Safeguarding Level 1 and Level 2 certificates through my work with a mental health charity, ensuring I understand student wellbeing and safe practice. Hi there. James here, from South Africa. I taught in London in Walthamstow for my probationary year in 1991, and then in Johannesburg and Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa for a total of 21 years. I have taught Cambridge A Level History and England and South Africa's English and History curricula. I am also a published researcher, poet, and author. I enjoy cross-country running. I like NETFLIX mystery series. I regularly get out wilderness walking and cross country swimming. Since February 2025, I tutor English and Religious Studies for GoStudent. I battled with learning difficulties at school. However, I did very well after school, because I knew that English opens doors. So, I set goals. Then I achieved a B.A (1985) and a B. Ed (1996) degree, at Wits University in Johannesburg. I did a Masters Degree in Theology (Regent College, Vancouver, B.C., 2001) and a PhD in Church History (University of KwaZulu-Natal, 2016). I believe education is a lifelong journey. We master English every day for the rest of our lives. So I'm still learning as I tutor GCSE students, A Level students, and juniors, to reach their highest goals.
