Hi there! I'm a second-year student at LMU studying Medical Bioscience. I'm really into science and hope to work in research and development someday. Right now, I'm learning a lot as a lab technician assistant at my university. When I'm not in the lab, I enjoy tutoring students in science at a local center. I believe in making science fun and easy to understand. Looking forward to exploring and learning more about science together!

Juliet Foxwell
I am passionate about helping young people get the most out of their education. I will work with you and your child to find common ground, relate their studies to things that interest and engage them, and hopefully be that one to one person who makes things "click" for them. Working within a class suits a lot of children, but isn't always the best approach for everyone. Asking questions is a lot easier when you are in a safe one to one environment. Whether you need someone to sit with your child while they do their homework, work on extra examples to deepen their understanding so they enjoy class time more, or work towards an entrance or 11 plus exam I can help. I have worked in and out of schools since I gained my degree. I am married with a teenage daughter. Outside of work I love being outdoors, walking, gardening and on my paddleboard.

Alex Osborne
I am currently on a gap year following my A Levels, and am applying to study Physics at university next school year. At A Level I achieved 3 A*s in Physics, Mathematics, and History, and I also achieved a grade 9 in Physics at GCSE level. My sessions are tailored towards GCSE Physics students, and are aimed at improving exam performance while also improving the student's understanding of the subject beyond simply memorising equations. I understand that every student's goals are different, and my lessons reflect this - if one method of teaching is not proving effective for a student I am able to adapt my lessons to be structured in a way that resonates with them specifically. My lessons are applicable to every GCSE exam board, but I have the most experience with the AQA specification.

What is Key Stage 1?

Many primary and secondary schools follow the national curriculum. This tells schools what subjects they must teach and what standards they have to meet to make sure kids all learn the same things at the same pace.

From the age of 5, the national curriculum is divided into “key stages”. Each key stage ends with an official evaluation of your child’s progress and is the beginning of their journey towards one day sitting GCSEs and A-Levels. Here is a brief guide to the system:

  • Key Stage 1 covers pupils aged between 5 and 7 in Year 1 and Year 2.

  • Key Stage 2 of the national curriculum is for kids aged between 8 and 11 in years 3 to 6.

  • Key Stage 3 is for children aged between 12 and 14 in Years 8 and 9.

  • Key Stage 4 covers teenagers doing their GCSEs.

  • Key Stage 5 is for those doing A-Levels, AS-Levels, National Diplomas, or NVQs.

What KS1 tests will my child have to do?

At the end of KS1 Year 1, your child will be given a “phonics screening check” to measure their reading ability and check for any problems. Year 2 of KS1 ends with official exams to test English and maths skills along with teacher evaluations of abilities in maths, science, reading and writing.

In Key Stage 1, as well as English, maths and science, your child will study art and design, computing, design and technology, geography, history, languages, music, religious education and PE. Many schools will also teach some extra, optional subjects.

Getting a good start in Key Stage 1 is crucial for your child’s future. However, with ever-growing class sizes, mountains of paperwork and a complex curriculum, your kid’s teachers are probably being stretched to their limits. Giving every child the education they need just isn’t possible in today’s classrooms.

Parents who want their children to have the greatest possible opportunities often look for private tutors to take up the slack and boost their performance. But if you want to find the best KS1 tutor, where do you turn?

How do I find the best KS1 tutor?

If you try to find a tutor for traditional face-to-face classes you’re going to be limited to whoever happens to be available locally.

Even if you are lucky and find a fairly decent one, you have to deal with negotiating a gap in their schedule as well as getting your kid to and from wherever the tutor gives their classes a few times a week.

Online there are many options for parents looking for tutors and in some ways, such a range of choices can actually be a bad thing. You’re faced with people from all over who have decided to offer their services as a tutor. How do you check their qualifications, character and suitability and work out who is the best KS1 tutor for your kid?

At GoStudent, we have built our success on providing parents with only the most qualified, passionate and professional tutors available. Our solid reputation means you can trust us to find the best K1 tutor for your child.

How does GoStudent find the best K1 tutors?

Tutors that want to work with us must outshine the competition in a tough application process. We put candidates through multiple interviews, background checks and tests. We look for patient and approachable educators who deliver engaging and worthwhile classes with enthusiasm and creativity in addition to having excellent qualifications.

At GoStudent, we know the best KS1 tutor will assess your child’s needs and look for the areas where they need help and work hard to help them build the skills and confidence they need to make rapid progress. Through an encouraging and supportive learning environment, the best KS1 tutor will fill in any gaps in knowledge, skills or understanding, give essential advice and make sure your kid thoroughly knows their way around the curriculum.

Why choose GoStudent tutors?

GoStudent online 1-2-1 classes are the most convenient, efficient and effective way to secure help for your little one. No rushing to pick up your kid and drive them to a tutor’s flat two or three times a week. All you need is an internet-connected device and a microphone (a webcam is recommended but not essential).

Find the best KS1 tutor for any subject from our hand-picked team and schedule a free trial class in just a few clicks. Classes can also be rescheduled quickly and conveniently if you need to change your plans.

Your child’s KS1 tutor will send you regular reports on their progress so you know what’s happening, what they're working on and how well they’re improving.

At GoStudent, we’re in it for the long term, and we want you to have peace of mind and if you eventually decide one of our teachers isn’t the best KS1 tutor for your family you can change to another easily with no fuss.

You can even record tuition sessions. So, once the class is finished, your child can rewatch any class if they have to study for a test or if they just want to go over some important points. It’s a personalised video school at their fingertips!
