I have recently graduated from the University of St Andrews with a joint Masters in Ancient History and Medieval History (2:1). I have Advanced Higher qualifications in Biology (B)and History(A) and have Higher grades for Human Biology (A), P.E (A), Chemistry (C) and English (A) along with a National 5 qualification in Maths(B). Alongside my expansive range of History subjects I have studied at university, I have additionally studied Classics, Arabic Culture and Astrobiology. I am well versed in Ancient Roman and Greek history along with Medieval Europe, but I am equally knowledgable and capable with teaching more modern history topics. I am well read and have studied and taught the majority of texts required for English literature, with my favourites being 'An Inspector Calls' and 'Macbeth.' My Biology knowledge is strong across all exam boards and I have a particular interest in Astrobiology. Further I am very experienced with children from ages of 5 to 17, I volunteered for multiple sports groups in my area as a Sports Leader to run clubs s and have gained an SQA recognised coaching qualification for netball.

About me

I'm Sophie, I am 23 and I come from the Highlands of Scotland. I am an experienced tutor with two years experience on this platform alone with experience of tutoring privately and volunteering. I teach various subjects such as History, Biology, Human Biology, and English to students from the ages of 12-17. I am extremely experienced in helping students build up their confidence and capability for their exams. I have personal experience with the SQA exam board but I have equal capability in teaching my subjects to other exam board standards and to students of any age and level. Outwith tutoring, I enjoy spending my time reading books, walking my two dogs and playing video games on my Xbox. Levels and Subjects: I teach National 4 and 5, Higher, Advanced Higher, GCSE and A-level for History, English Language and Literature, Biology and Human Biology for SQA, AQA, Edexcel, OCR, iGCSE. SEND Experience: I have autism and anxiety which allows me to understand students who may be experiencing similar issues that I faced in school. This allows me to share knowledge and learning techniques that better suit neurodivergent students. I have worked with students with dyslexia, ADHD, autism so I have an awareness of how these conditions affect everyone differently and can support the student accordingly.
