I'm Sophie, I am 24 and I come from the Highlands of Scotland. I am an experienced tutor with three years experience on this platform alone with experience of tutoring privately and volunteering. I teach various subjects such as History, Biology, Human Biology, and English. I am extremely experienced in helping students build up their confidence and capability for their exams. I have personal experience with the SQA exam board but I have equal capability in teaching my subjects to other exam board standards and to students of any age and level. Outwith tutoring, I enjoy spending my time reading books, walking my two dogs and playing video games on my Xbox. I hold a Master’s degree in Genomic Medicine from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, giving me strong subject expertise and a clear, structured approach to teaching even the most challenging topics. I specialise in GCSE and A Level Science, with a strong focus on exam technique and mark schemes. My students typically improve by 2–3 grades through targeted practice and clear, exam-ready explanations. What sets me apart is my ability to break down complex ideas into simple, understandable steps, adapt to each student’s learning style, and ensure consistent progress through accountability. My lessons are designed to build confident, independent learners who achieve top grades. I hold a Master’s degree in Genomic Medicine from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, giving me strong subject expertise and a clear, structured approach to teaching even the most challenging topics. I specialise in GCSE Biology, Chemistry & Physics and A-level Biology and Chemistry (all exam boards), as well as KS1–GCSE English, SATs and 11+ (VR & NVR). I’ve supported 500+ students to build confidence, close gaps in understanding and achieve significant grade improvements — often 2 grades or more.

Outside academics, I am an optimistic, sporty individual. I have been playing American football for 6 years and counting, having the opportunity to represent Great Britain under 19s against Italy and France, and currently being on the adult roster to potentially play against Georgia and Spain. With such experiences, I volunteer frequently with my local club, London Blitz, and at Warwick University, which consists of mentoring and coaching, supplying me with the confidence to know I am capable of teaching individuals of all backgrounds, what I know. I find it very rewarding to be able to witness progression, knowing you played a role, and seeing how meaningful it can be for people. My education has predominantly focused on numbers, mathematics, science, and their applied usage, leading to the great opportunity of studying a Master of Engineering at the University of Warwick. During my 4 years here, I maintained a 2:1 grade while juggling sporting commitments. This degree enabled me to develop many skills and deepen my knowledge of the engineering industry, which makes me confident to tutor GCSE and A-level Mathematics and Physics. Before university, at GCSE and A-levels, I went to a local state school and managed to achieve a 9-9 in combined science and an 8 in mathematics at the GCSE level. At A-levels, I attained A*AAB in Mathematics, AS Further Mathematics, Physics, and Economics respectively, which was one of the best in the entire year.
