Hello, I'm James and I'm a college student at UCD. I'm currently studying Economics and Finance which is a heavily maths-orientated degree. Growing up, I have always loved maths and it was my favourite subject at Junior Cert and Leaving Cert level. I obtained 10 A's in my Junior Cert, including an A in maths in addition to 7 H1's at Leaving Cert. I received a H1 in maths (100%) and in Applied Maths (99%). I have been tutoring secondary school students for the better part of a year and I absolutely love it. Like most people, I have also had difficulty with Maths and I would like to use my experience to help others any difficulties they may have. Having completed secondary school in 2021, I am very familiar with all aspects of the Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate syllabi. I take a very relaxed approach to lessons with each grind tailored to the student's individual needs and requirements. I look forward to working with you!

I am a PPE student at the University of Manchester with a love of Mathematics and breaking complex problems into simple steps. As a dyslexic student, I understand the benefits that 1-1 support in education can bring and know first hand how much you can improve academically with focused support and hard work. Outside of academics and tutoring, I play several instruments including violin, piano and singing. I was recently awarded my grade 8 singing. Moreover I have enjoyed playing football since I was young and was the captain of the 1st XI football team in my secondary school. I am currently in the University of Manchester studying PPE. I achieved an A* in Mathematics at A level with 93% in the Pure Mathematics Paper, achieved the highest in my cohort in the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge, and a 9 at GCSE level. I am a highly approachable and engaging tutor with over two years of experience tutoring at GCSE level and 11+ entrance exams. Through a student programme, I also volunteered at a local primary school fortnightly teaching Mathematics to Year 4 students for a year.

What are A-levels?
A-level stands for ‘advanced level’, which gives you a good indication of how difficult they can be. Students usually work towards achieving their A-levels over two years, taking three or four courses in the first year of Sixth Form and three in the second year.
Are A-levels difficult?
The shift from GCSE to A-levels is huge, and many students get caught out as they’re expecting a gentle jump.
A-levels require an increased level of independence. Some kids thrive on this newfound taste of adulthood whereas others take more time to adjust.
What is an A-level exam?
A-level exams take place at the end of each year, with the second-year exam testing content from both years.
Non-exam assessments only make up 20% or less of the final grade. That’s why nailing the exams is crucial.
Who can take A-level exams?
Requirements vary between different schools and colleges, but generally speaking your child will need:
When will your child need help with their A-levels?
Many children benefit from tuition right from the start, as the jump from GCSEs is more like a vertical rock climb than a jog up a hill.
If your child struggles with planning their study time, their tutor can guide them on the best study practices and help create a learning schedule.
Why A-level private tutoring works
When should my child start revising for their A-levels?
How much time is needed will depend upon how much effort your child put in during the year and how hard they found the content. Ideally, leave at least a few months for revision and longer if they are taking more than three A-levels.
How do you revise for A-levels?
Just reading over notes and books isn’t enough to solidify information in the brain. Your child will need a study timetable so they can ensure they have time to revise everything in detail.
Our dedicated A-level online tutors will provide homework and exam papers to practise on and will keep you up-to-date on your child’s progress.
Book your free trial lesson today and breathe a sigh of relief. At GoStudent, we make sure that every one of our professional and experienced A-level tutors has been there, aced that, so your child is in safe hands.
