New tutor
Hello! I'm James, 22, a final year Maths and Physics student at the University of Bath. I chose this program of study as I have always been astounded by the vast number of problems, most of which you wouldn’t expect, that have a solution that can be found with a strong understanding of both subjects! During the 23/24 academic year, I had the opportunity to complete a study year abroad at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, whilst abroad I had experience in a tutoring setting and received feedback including “created a comfortable environment” and “patient and dedicated”. This experience ignited a passion in me to explore a teaching/tutoring career as the feeling of helping someone understand difficult concepts and then aiding them to realise and achieve their potential in a subject was second to none. I believe the learning process should be enjoyable and engaging, to do this I like to build a friendly yet professional relationship with students so that they feel confident and comfortable enough to raise concerns so that we can try different teaching styles and methods to suit their needs best. I am dedicated to helping students reach their full potential and ensuring they leave every session feeling fulfilled and educated. In my free time, I love to play various card and board games as well as running. I attended a local state school in my hometown to complete my GCSEs and A-levels and I am currently a final year student at the University of Bath. I also completed a study year abroad at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln during the 23/24 academic year. My qualifications are 13 GCSEs (A*-B) and 4 A-levels (A*-A including maths, physics and chemistry)

With two years of valuable experience in online tutoring, I have successfully guided over 30 students in their academic journey, focusing primarily on mathematics. Currently, I dedicate 22 hours each week to teaching, a commitment I balance alongside my own studies in Business Economics Finance at Loughborough University, where I am a first-class honours student in my final year.My approach to teaching is grounded in the belief that learning should be both enjoyable and educational. I start by assessing each student's existing knowledge, then tailor my lessons to build confidence and routine in tackling math problems, starting from the very basics. My method is meticulous: I ensure students understand the reasoning behind each concept before moving forward, reinforcing a deep comprehension rather than just rote learning.I have developed a structured lesson format that involves comprehensive worksheets followed by topic assessments under exam conditions. This not only prepares students for their exams but also helps them apply their knowledge practically. For any questions that students find challenging, I adopt a unique approach, breaking them down in ways that align closely with the student's personal interests, making the learning process more relatable and engaging.Balancing 22 hours of teaching with university studies has been a testament to my time management and organizational skills. My active participation in university sports, including football and boxing, has been instrumental in developing attributes like leadership, motivation, and communication, which are crucial in my role as a tutor. This experience also enables me to keep the tutoring sessions lively and engaging, ensuring that students remain interested and motivated in their learning journey. I attend Loughborough University studying Business Economics and Finance. I am currently on track to receive a 2:1 including modules like Applied Econometrics and Financial Economics and Asset Pricing. I attended East Barnet School where I completed my GCSEs and A Levels, achieving A* in Mathematics, A in Economics and A in Business studies.

My name is Rebecca and I am from South Wales, United Kingdom. I have experienced living in different places around the UK and I lived in London for several years, which was an amazing experience to meet people from international countries and learn many things about their culture and interests too. I enjoy cooking at home, as formally I have trained on the job as a professional chef, mainly in seafood/fish restaurants and Japanese cuisine. Also, I like going for a walk down the coastline and taking in the scenic views, photography and sometimes video gaming when the time arises. For over a year, I have been teaching English online as a second language to Taiwanese and Chinese students, both juniors and adults. Which became an interest whilst I was teaching sushi classes in London. I decided to advance onto teaching specifically English and conversational topics chosen by students, to further improve their overall English language. From education I gained a TEFL level 5 teaching qualification and a BSc (Hons) in Food and Consumer Management from Birmingham University. Which focused on live industry projects within the FMCG sector, nutrition and the business elements within the food industry. I enjoy cooking at home, particularly Japanese cuisine and seafood dishes that I learnt previously as a professional chef.

We were delighted with the quality of tutoring that we received from Sivapriya. My son had regular computer science tutorials with her and always looked forward to his sessions. Her lessons were fun and he always finished feeling excited about what he had learned. He also enjoyed the games they would play to help get in the right mindset for the lesson and to understand the concepts. Her explanations and real life examples were clear and she was always very helpful when our son needed more clarification on a subject. The homework was challenging and fun and the feedback was always helpful. Sivapriya was always quick to respond to any queries that we had. We would definitely recommend her to other families looking for a good tutor.

The teacher is experienced in the exams (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2), so she gives important hints to the students to make it easier for them, if they face a problem, while giving the exam.

What are A-levels?
A-level stands for ‘advanced level’, which gives you a good indication of how difficult they can be. Students usually work towards achieving their A-levels over two years, taking three or four courses in the first year of Sixth Form and three in the second year.
Are A-levels difficult?
The shift from GCSE to A-levels is huge, and many students get caught out as they’re expecting a gentle jump.
A-levels require an increased level of independence. Some kids thrive on this newfound taste of adulthood whereas others take more time to adjust.
What is an A-level exam?
A-level exams take place at the end of each year, with the second-year exam testing content from both years.
Non-exam assessments only make up 20% or less of the final grade. That’s why nailing the exams is crucial.
Who can take A-level exams?
Requirements vary between different schools and colleges, but generally speaking your child will need:
When will your child need help with their A-levels?
Many children benefit from tuition right from the start, as the jump from GCSEs is more like a vertical rock climb than a jog up a hill.
If your child struggles with planning their study time, their tutor can guide them on the best study practices and help create a learning schedule.
Why A-level private tutoring works
When should my child start revising for their A-levels?
How much time is needed will depend upon how much effort your child put in during the year and how hard they found the content. Ideally, leave at least a few months for revision and longer if they are taking more than three A-levels.
How do you revise for A-levels?
Just reading over notes and books isn’t enough to solidify information in the brain. Your child will need a study timetable so they can ensure they have time to revise everything in detail.
Our dedicated A-level online tutors will provide homework and exam papers to practise on and will keep you up-to-date on your child’s progress.
Book your free trial lesson today and breathe a sigh of relief. At GoStudent, we make sure that every one of our professional and experienced A-level tutors has been there, aced that, so your child is in safe hands.
How affordable is private A Levels tuition?
The cost of private A Levels tuition can be as low as £21.99. The price of each individual lesson is dependent on how long your child would like tuition support and how many lessons they take per week. The more they learn, the lower the price of each lesson! Why not book a free trial session for you and your child to see how we can help?
