I have completed my Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematics at the University of Birmingham. Currently, I am studying as a postgraduate in PGCE Secondary Mathematics to become a fully qualified maths teacher at the end of this academic year. I am really looking forward to helping students to learn online. As a qualified teacher I worked in mainstream education for over 40 years teaching Key Stage 3 Science and also Key Stage 4 Combined Science and Separate Sciences to GCSE level as well as key Stage 5 Physics to Advanced level. I have also taught part of the GCSE Maths specification. After retirement I continued to teach as a Supply teacher at Secondary and Primary level. Also over the last year when classes were isolating at home I taught some classes online. My Physics degree was from Bristol University and my MSc from Birmingham University. In my spare time I like to keep up by reading about recent advances in Science and where we are heading. As a teacher I used to run the table tennis and chess teams and would include those activities as my hobbies. So through online teaching I look to be efficient and adaptable hoping to help as many students as possible. Hi! My name is Aurora and I am a postgraduate student at the University of Manchester, studying a Masters in Development Economics. I am originally from Italy, but I moved to the UK when I was 16 and sat both my GCSEs and A Levels in London. In my GCSEs I achieved 8 A* and 4 A grades. These were the second-highest results in my cohort, despite the fact I had only been living in England for two years before sitting my exams. At sixth form, I taught myself French A Level in just one year and achieved an A grade, the highest grade in my class. I have always found learning languages an extremely rewarding, albeit sometimes frustrating process. Although languages open up doors to new ways of thinking and seeing the world around you, grasping the different aspects of a language, such as its grammar, can be demoralising. And that’s what I am here for - as a fellow language learner, I can empathise with the difficulties of this process and will do my best to make it as smooth and fun as possible. Furthermore, as a foreigner who has been through the UK education system, I am able to advise those in similar positions and facing similar challenges.
