I'm currently a veterinary medicine student at university, slated to graduate in 2030. I have two younger brothers and have always been one of those strange children who enjoyed going to school for the learning, not just the fun. Outside of education I am a knitter, a crocheter, a badminton player, and an avid creative writer. I was involved in Scouts for two years and was part of the National Honour Society in high school, a society for students in American high schools that select members based on four pillars: academics, character, service, and leadership. I enjoy explaining things and hope to ensure that my students gain a greater appreciation of the subject matter, but I will settle for getting them through their exams if that's all they want. I attended CAJ, an international high school in Japan that following the American curriculum. I took 10 AP subjects, which are slightly narrower in scope but no less thorough in depth than A levels, and scored 5s (highest score) in all but English language, where I scored a 3 (pass mark). Hi, I’m Sophie! I love teaching Maths and English, and have experience in tutoring students from 11+ to A Level. I achieved straight 9s in my GCSEs and A*s and As in A Levels, and have a particular interest in the philosophy of mathematics. My lessons focus on breaking down challenging ideas into manageable, clear steps, while building the confidence and problem-solving skills needed to succeed in exams. First and foremost, I approach teaching with genuine enthusiasm and a passion for the subject, and I hope to inspire that same curiosity in my students. Originally born in New York City, I grew up in London my entire life where I completed the IB Diploma. Outside of academics, I row at UChicago, play piano, and love to read.
