Hi, I'm Caitlin! I am an English Literature graduate from the University of Sheffield. My degree in English has given me lots of knowledge, insight and passion for the subject. I am an experienced and reliable tutor, and in the past have tutored GCSE students who have gone on to achieve amazing grade 9s. Year 9 and up: Comprehension, vocabulary, basics and GCSE prep. GCSE: English Literature + English Language (Such as Shakespeare, Poetry, Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde, An Inspector Calls) A-Level: English Literature I will work with the student towards their goals and help them become more confident and advanced in their written and verbal ideas. I have a degree in English Literature from a Russell Group University. I have achieved high grades in English and Literature at degree, GCSE and A-Level, and it was always my favourite subject. I am very passionate about different texts and much of the content I learnt myself when I did my exams back in 2017. My lessons will be informative, fun and interesting and I will focus on the needs of the student and helping them to achieve their best grade and full potential!

Hello there! Hope you are well. My name is Joshua Hailey and my pronouns are he/him. I have been an online tutor for over three years, and I hope this 'About Me' section gives you an insight into who I am and my teaching style. Before I go into more detail about who I am, I would urge you to read the testimonials, (at the bottom of this section), from some of my current parents whose children I am teaching! These statements can help you make an informed decision and, (hopefully), choose me as your child's next tutor. I am an English Literature BA (Hons) graduate who studied at the University of Portsmouth. In September 2024 I am undertaking a Masters in Modern and Contemporary Literature from the University of Leicester. With over three years tutoring experience, a strong work ethic and excellent time management skills, I have challenged and supported students across all educational stages, including primary school pupils right up to A Level students! I want your child to succeed and I truly believe they can do this! My lessons are varied, fun, but get the work done! Education is not 'one size fits all', and online tutoring is the perfect example of this. My sessions will see your child grow from strength to strength, as they learn new concepts and methods of success in their respective subject. You will not find me simply reading off a screen for the entire lesson, but you can expect interactivity to drive every single lesson that I will (hopefully) have with your child! In addition to English tuition, I also offer Primary Maths, 11+ and History. I have experience supporting students in all these subjects, and have completed them to a GCSE/A Level standard (for more information on this, please see my 'Academic Background' section). In summary, I promise to adopt a customised learning plan and positive ethos for your child across all sessions. As the parent, you deserve to feel included in your child's progress. I will endeavour to regularly update you through messages, comprehensive written reports and periodic phone calls should you want them! Here is a full list of the subjects I offer depending on the age of your child: Reception-Year 9: Maths (Primary age only), English Language, English Literature, SPaG, Reading, Comprehension, Literacy, History, 11+ (For 11+ I can only offer English and Verbal Reasoning so please keep this in mind.) GCSE: History, (Edexcel and AQA), English Language (including the Speaking and Listening component), English Literature (AQA, OCR or Edexcel), SPaG, Reading skills Exam Board Experience: AQA, Edexcel and OCR. Languages I speak: English SND Experience: Little to no real-life experience, but I have had mentoring from an SND tutor As mentioned at the start of this, here are some written testimonials from some parents of the students I teach. I hope this enables you to see how beneficial I can be for your child's education! Jaydon's, (a year 3 English student), parent says: 'Joshua is a wonderful tutor and has the ability to engage with children in a warm and nurturing way. He is excellent at engaging my somewhat headstrong son and has not only picked up on his strengths, but is encouraging him to build on them which is increasing his confidence. Joshua’s subject knowledge is second to none, but what makes him wonderful tutor has been his ability to get to know my son, understand his way of thinking and adapt a teaching style that brings out his best work. Homework, the reinforcement of topics learnt in session and the positive feedback has really helped to my son progress well in English. My son looks forward to his sessions with Joshua every week.' Archie's, (a recent GCSE student), parent says: 'We couldn’t have asked for a better tutor than Josh. My son was struggling with his GCSE English Literature and after just one session with Josh, he felt so much more confident with the subject. There was a lot to cover but Josh set out carefully planned revision sessions leading up to and during the exams that covered all the topics. So by the time the exams came my son felt able to tackle anything that came up. Josh is incredibly amiable and knowledgeable and put my son at ease straight away. I would definitely recommend Josh to anyone who is looking for an excellent English tutor.' Kimiya's, (an 11+ Verbal Reasoning student), parent says: 'Kimiya has been having lessons with Josh for almost a year. She has improved significantly and is getting better day by day. Kimiya really enjoys the lessons with Josh and is always looking forward to their next lesson. Josh makes the lessons fun and makes sure that Kimiya has understood the subject before ending the lessons. We are very happy and lucky to have him tutoring Kimiya.' So... what are you waiting for! Are you ready to see your child thrive? Let's do this! I am an English Literature BA (Hons) graduate who studied at the University of Portsmouth. I am currently completing a Masters degree in Modern and Contemporary Literature from the University of Leicester. Below are my other qualifications and their examination boards. If you decide to choose me as the tutor for your child I am more than happy to go into detail about my qualifications at your first session! Please note the examination board of each qualification is in brackets. This does not mean I am not able to teach an alternative exam board for your child. Feel free to address any concerns around this at our first session. GCSEs: Biology (AQA) - 5 Chemistry (AQA) - 4 Drama (AQA) - 6 English Language (AQA) - 6 English Language (Speaking and Listening) (AQA) - Distinction English Literature (AQA) - 6 French (AQA) - 5 History (Edexcel) - 7 Mathematics (AQA) - 5 Physics (AQA) - 5 A Levels: Drama (AQA) - A English Literature (OCR) - B Psychology (AQA) - B Extended Project Qualification (Level 3, AQA) - A*[star] (Focus was on the poetry of Elizabeth Barrett Browning and the presentation of female stereotypes within literature and history throughout the Victorian era) Degree (English Literature BA (Hons) from the University of Portsmouth): First Class

My name is Hafsa and I am a Dental student at the University of Manchester. My friends describe me as hardworking, dedicated and focussed. Science and Maths has a huge importance in my life, a lot of it to do with my degree but also because of an interest I have in me. Having attained AAA in Biology, Chemistry and Maths in A-Levels, and A*A* and a 9 in GCSE, I have developed from an outstanding student to an incredible tutor. In high school my English teachers always applauded my excellent english analytical skills as I acheived an 8 in GCSE, and I am looking forward to sharing these tips with students of my own. From my own journey, there has been many instances where I have taught myself content because the way the teacher taught me I just didnt understand. This made me an independent learner and encouraged me to reach my highest potential - not to meantion all the amazing tips and tricks I discovered and am excited to pass on to my students too. I have a vast experience of teaching, from volunteering experiences to jobs in different settings with tutoring - which helped me fine tune my teaching skills and made me really adaptable to different teaching styles. As a young tutor, the age gap between me and my students will be relatively small and will allow me to understand them much better, as well as make the lessons more fun and engaging as I know how to meet their needs.
