I have been teaching English online for over three-years now. This has included English as a foreign language and GCSE/ A level English literature and language. I graduated last year with a first-class degree in English literature and Language in Cardiff University and received a scholarship in my second year for being the best performing pupil in my cohort. English teaching has long been a passion of mine and my role has evolved to encompass academic writing support, something that I feel should be taught in school and is sought after by examiners across all exam boards. My name is Rebecca and I am from South Wales, United Kingdom. I have experienced living in different places around the UK and I lived in London for several years, which was an amazing experience to meet people from international countries and learn many things about their culture and interests too. I enjoy cooking at home, as formally I have trained on the job as a professional chef, mainly in seafood/fish restaurants and Japanese cuisine. Also, I like going for a walk down the coastline and taking in the scenic views, photography and sometimes video gaming when the time arises. For over a year, I have been teaching English online as a second language to Taiwanese and Chinese students, both juniors and adults. Which became an interest whilst I was teaching sushi classes in London. I decided to advance onto teaching specifically English and conversational topics chosen by students, to further improve their overall English language. From education I gained a TEFL level 5 teaching qualification and a BSc (Hons) in Food and Consumer Management from Birmingham University. Which focused on live industry projects within the FMCG sector, nutrition and the business elements within the food industry. I am originally from England. I have lived in England all my life and was born there , i have also studied in 4 different schools and one college also. Hi! I am a tutor specialising in English Literature, History, and Psychology, currently studying Human, Social, Political Sciences at the University of Cambridge. I personally also love arts and illustration; and so I aim to also work as an illustrator in the holidays during my degree. For all my students, I aim to encourage a love of learning and create a deep understanding of the importance of education. Many students feel as if they are not 'intelligent' enough to do well, and feel ashamed to ask for help. I want to stress to all my students that there is no such thing as failure; only redirection, and that there are many different forms of intelligence. Every student is intelligent in different ways - creative, emotional, or logical, even if the mainstream idea of intelligence does not immediately reflect their personal strengths. It is important for students to understand that grades do not define their self worth, but are merely tools to unlock new paths for their life, and are not the be all and end all of their existence.
