GCSE - English Literature/Language A Level - English Literature/Philosophy My name is Jyotsna and my interests are in philosophy, reading and writing, hence why I want to teach the lot! My teaching style is mostly discussion-based - almost like Socratic questioning. I believe this helps ideas and concepts stay in your mind for longer, as the student is the one that has to do the intellectual heavy lifting. I have just started the first year of my philosophy degree at the University of Durham, after having completed English Literature and Philosophy A-Level. I have tutored a GCSE English student before and have also led KS3 philosophy society, where we have discussions based on the A Level Philosophy syllabus (Utilitarianism, Kant’s deontological ethics and Aristotleian virtue ethics).

Hi, I'm Chidi, 22 and tutoring English and Music! I've always enjoyed meeting new people, and helping others out with things I'm good at, so tutoring is just the perfect role. I'd say I'm pretty relaxed, confident, but kind and understanding. I like to take it easy and honestly can't remember the last time I had a temper. I crack myself up, but my friends would beg to differ. A pity chuckle here and there is enough to boost my ego. I'm a Master's student at the University of Liverpool, studying Music Industry at the moment! I’ve been tutoring for a year now, and have massively helped all of my students improve their grades & confidence In my free time, I produce music, play the piano, guitar or sing, edit videos, play League of Legends (unfortunately), and get lost into the endless void of TikTok.

Hi, I’m Varun! I’m a Master's student at UCL, studying Software Systems Engineering. I also have a first-class honours bachelor's degree in Computer Science. I have a strong passion for both Mathematics and Computer Science, and I love sharing that enthusiasm with others through teaching. Mathematics and Computer Science are not just academic subjects to me—they shape the way I think and approach problems. From logical coding processes to the structure behind music, I appreciate how these disciplines connect to the world around us. Whether it’s exploring the logic behind algorithms or understanding how mathematical principles apply to real-world scenarios, I enjoy helping students see these subjects in a new light. I offer tutoring in Mathematics for all ages up to GCSE level and Computer Science up to undergraduate level. I have real experience teaching for OCR, AQA, Edexcel, WJEC, and Eduqas across both subjects, ensuring my lessons align with the specific requirements of each exam board. My approach is always tailored to each student, helping them feel confident in tackling challenging topics in a way that works best for them. In Mathematics, I help students develop strong problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of key topics, from foundational arithmetic to algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Whether it’s reinforcing school material, practicing exam-style questions, or building confidence with tricky concepts, I ensure lessons are engaging and structured to suit individual learning styles. In Computer Science, I cover both theory and practical programming skills. I help students master topics such as algorithms, data structures, networking, and computer architecture while also ensuring they gain hands-on experience in coding. I’m comfortable teaching Python, Java, C#, VB.NET, and more, and I can also support students with programming projects in any language of their choice, offering guidance on best practices, debugging, and code optimization. With over 1,000 lessons delivered in Mathematics and Computer Science, I have worked with students from a wide range of academic backgrounds. My goal is not just to improve grades but to build confidence and foster a genuine interest in these subjects. If you’re looking for a tutor who can make complex concepts more approachable and help you build a strong foundation in Maths and Computer Science, I’d love to help! Hi there! My name is Eve and I am currently a university student who loves learning, meeting new people and helping others. I’d describe myself as a fun and friendly person who’s always ready to laugh and I am here to make studying feel more enjoyable. I know that learning can feel intimidating or challenging, but I believe it’s all about finding the approach that works best for you. I’ve always been passionate about sport and the outdoors. Whether it’s playing football, skiing or going for a walk in nature, being active helps me stay positive, focused and motivated. I try to bring that same energy into tutoring — encouraging students to stay determined, celebrate progress, and see that every small step counts. When I’m not tutoring or being active, I love to listen to music, watching a good series and spending time with friends. I’m a big believer in work-life balance — working hard but also prioritising enjoying life and rest. As a tutor, I aim to create a calm and supportive learning environment where students feel confident to ask questions, make mistakes and learn at their own pace. I understand that everyone learns differently, so I adapt my sessions to suit each student’s needs. Most importantly, I want my students to enjoy the process and feel proud of their progress. I’m looking forward to meeting new students, getting to know them and their individual journeys and I’m excited to work together to build their confidence and reach their end goals. I have always been passionate about learning and challenging myself academically. I have a strong academic background, having achieved 11 GCSEs and three A-levels in Biology, Geography, and Physical Education. These subjects allowed me to develop a deep understanding of how the human body functions, how we interact with the environment and the importance of health and well being — areas that continue to inspire me in day-to-day life. My A-levels built a strong foundation in scientific thinking, analysis and problem-solving, all of which I continue to apply in my current studies. I am now studying Sport Rehabilitation at university, a course that combines my love for sport, science and helping others. It has given me valuable insights into human anatomy, injury prevention and rehabilitation techniques, as well as how physical activity supports both physical and mental health. Through my degree, I’ve learned not only the theory behind human biology and movement but also how to apply this knowledge in practical, real-world situations. My academic journey has taught me the importance of perseverance, curiosity, and maintaining a positive attitude toward learning. I’m proud of the progress I’ve made so far and I am excited to keep building on my knowledge. As a student and tutor, I enjoy sharing what I’ve learned with others, helping them understand complex topics in a clear and engaging way, and showing that learning can be both enjoyable and rewarding.

What are GCSEs?
GCSEs are qualifications that students in the UK achieve at the end of their compulsory education.
A GCSE grade is given to each subject and calculated on written exams, practical exams and coursework.
How important are GCSEs?
GCSEs are a universally recognised qualification in the UK.
Specific GCSE grades may be required when applying for further education. This includes applications for college, sixth form and university, or when applying for a job.
GCSEs can come with a lot of pressure and expectation but your child can achieve the grades that they need with lots of practice as well as guidance from a GCSE tutor.
At what age do you take GCSEs?
Students take their GCSE exams around age 16, in the last months of the academic year at school, although the syllabus is taught between the ages of 14-16 years.
There is now more weight than ever being placed on final exams (instead of coursework), so students must be well equipped to perform on the day.
Which GCSEs are compulsory?
The core subjects for GCSEs are maths, English and science.
Other GCSEs include languages (usually French, German or Spanish), humanities (such as history, geography or religious studies), art (music, art, media, drama) and technical (food technology, design and technology, computer science).
Can GCSEs be re-marked?
If your child is on the cusp of getting the grade that they hoped for or the result simply does not seem fair, the paper in question can be sent back to the exam board for appeal.
Many students appeal exam results when they are one or two marks away from the next grade up. The right study plan and a good understanding of the marking scheme for each exam can help avoid this situation.
If your child has achieved marks close to the grade line in their mock exams, it could be time to get them some help with a GCSE tutor.
