My name is Saffron, and I am a 2nd year Neuroscience student at the University of Manchester. Getting into this course at a Russel Group University required stellar GCSE and A Level grades which I was able to achieve through thorough and dedicated studies and personal teaching. I believe that active learning through frequent recall, question and answer sessions and flashcards is the best way to retain information. Combining this with practice paper questions from the start of teaching guarantees success. I am well versed in working with primary and secondary school students through 1 to 1 teaching and am committed to creating an interactive, personalised, and enjoyable lesson plan catered to every pupil's learning style. Hi! I'm currently studying Computer Science at the University of Warwick, one of the top universities in the UK. I’ve always had a strong passion for learning and teaching, especially when it comes to Maths and Physics. I graduated from the International Baccalaureate with a score of 41 out of 45, which is equivalent to AAA at A-Level. I scored 7 out of 7 in Physics HL and 6 out of 7 in Maths AA, which is one of the most challenging maths courses in the IB. Before that, I completed my IGCSEs with A* across all subjects. As a tutor, I focus on creating a friendly and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I tailor each session to suit the student’s pace and learning style, and I always aim to make lessons as engaging and understandable as possible. Whether your child is aiming for top marks or just needs a bit of extra help to catch up, I’m here to support them every step of the way! I genuinely enjoy helping students unlock their potential, and I’d love the opportunity to help your child do the same. Currently I'm a student at the university of Warwick doing Bachelor's computer science. I attended high school in Dubai in which I completed my IGCSE's and GCSES, as well as International Baccalaureate which is equivalent to A-levels but with 6 subjects instead of 3. My specialization is currently in computer science but I prefer teaching Mathematics and physics. I also really enjoy psychology as well and love to teach that.

I’m a 4th-year medical student who enjoys finding a balance between academics and creativity. When I’m not studying or working on university projects, I love going to the beach to surfing. I also enjoy being on stage and taking part in theatre productions, as acting allows me to express myself in a completely different way. In quieter moments, I like to dabble in a bit of art through painting and crafts, and more recently I’ve started learning how to crochet, which has been both fun and rewarding. I’m also an animal lover, especially cats in particular. I enjoy using my creativity most when it comes to teaching, finding ways to make learning easier and, just as importantly, enjoyable. I believe that learning is not just about absorbing knowledge but also about building a skill that you can use throughout life I attended West Buckland School from Year 7 to Year 13, between September 2016 and July 2022. In 2020, I completed 10 GCSEs with grades ranging from 6 to 9, including a 7 in English and Physics, an 8 in Mathematics, and a 9 in both Biology and Chemistry. I then studied A-levels in Biology, Mathematics, and Chemistry, alongside completing an Extended Project Qualification. Now I am a 4th year medical student.

Hi! My name is Shaanya and I am a first year medical student at UCL. I have been a dedicated tutor for 1.5 years and have a strong passion for teaching science and mathematics and helping students build confidence in these subjects. My approach focuses on making complex ideas simple and engaging by breaking them down into clear, logical steps. I believe that every student can succeed in maths and science with the right guidance, patience, and practice. I aim to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring new concepts. Rather than just memorising formulas, I help students understand the reasoning behind them so they can apply their knowledge to different problems. This approach helps develop critical thinking and long-term understanding. I have experience supporting students with topics such as algebra, geometry, physics, and basic chemistry and biology concepts. I tailor my lessons to suit each student’s learning style, whether that involves step-by-step problem solving, visual explanations, or real-world examples that make the subject more relatable. My goal as a tutor is not only to improve grades but also to help students develop curiosity and confidence in science and maths. Seeing students progress, overcome challenges, and achieve their academic goals is what motivates me most as an educator. I attended Godolphin and Latymer Secondary School from years 7-13 which provided me with a strong foundation of education. Here I sat my GCSE's and scored 11 grade 9's. I also sat my A-Level's at this schools and achieved 3 A*'s and 1 A. My secondary school education provided a strong academic basis and developed my ability to support others in their learning. Throughout my studies, I consistently achieved good results and demonstrated a clear understanding of key subjects such as mathematics and science. I often assisted classmates by explaining complex topics in a clear and patient manner, helping them gain confidence and improve their understanding. This experience strengthened my communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills. It also confirmed my interest in tutoring and academic support. I am confident that the knowledge and skills I developed during my secondary education enabled me to be an effective, reliable, and supportive tutor. I am currently studying medicine at University College London and am in my first year. My first year of medical university education has helped me become a good tutor by strengthening both my knowledge and communication skills. Studying subjects such as anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry requires deep understanding and regular revision, which allows me to explain complex concepts clearly to others. Medical training also encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and patience—qualities that are essential for effective tutoring. Through group discussions and collaborative learning, I have learned how to adapt explanations to different learning styles. As a result, I can support students confidently, break down difficult topics into simple steps, and help them build both understanding and confidence in their studies.

Hi there, my name is George and I developed a real passion for maths a science during my gcse years having not always been the biggest fan previously to this period and have found great fulfilment in developing my skills ever since. I now study physics at the university of Bristol and would not have got here if it wasn’t for some of my excellent teaching mentors so anything I can do to replicate this is an exciting opportunity for me. Having taken my exams so recently where I found some crafty shortcuts and developed easy strategies to assure me I could do well and guarantee me correct answers to certain questions that came up over and over again in previous years exams. All of which I really feel any student can implement to reduce at least some of the stress of these tricky years. I understand the importance of hobbies outside of the school work, with me personally enjoying all sports outside of my studies, particularly football, basketball and running. My GCSE qualifications came out at eight grade 9’s, two grade 8’s and a grade 7, with grade 9’s in my chosen subjects. I have A*’s in maths, physics and chemistry A-levels, taken in the 2023 summer series, so I am very comfortable with the OCR A syllabus for physics and chemistry, and the edexcel syllabus for both A-level and gcse maths.

I’m a second-year Mathematics student at the University of Manchester and I really enjoy helping others build confidence in Maths. For context, I achieved 91% in my first year at university and received A*s in Maths, Further Maths, and Physics at A level. Currently, I am a student at the University of Manchester working towards a BSc in Mathematics. I'm about to move into my second year, after scoring 91% in my first year exams. For A levels, I attended King Ecgbert school in Sheffield, where I achieved A*A*A* in Maths, further Maths and physics. What are GCSEs?
GCSEs are qualifications that students in the UK achieve at the end of their compulsory education.
A GCSE grade is given to each subject and calculated on written exams, practical exams and coursework.
How important are GCSEs?
GCSEs are a universally recognised qualification in the UK.
Specific GCSE grades may be required when applying for further education. This includes applications for college, sixth form and university, or when applying for a job.
GCSEs can come with a lot of pressure and expectation but your child can achieve the grades that they need with lots of practice as well as guidance from a GCSE tutor.
At what age do you take GCSEs?
Students take their GCSE exams around age 16, in the last months of the academic year at school, although the syllabus is taught between the ages of 14-16 years.
There is now more weight than ever being placed on final exams (instead of coursework), so students must be well equipped to perform on the day.
Which GCSEs are compulsory?
The core subjects for GCSEs are maths, English and science.
Other GCSEs include languages (usually French, German or Spanish), humanities (such as history, geography or religious studies), art (music, art, media, drama) and technical (food technology, design and technology, computer science).
Can GCSEs be re-marked?
If your child is on the cusp of getting the grade that they hoped for or the result simply does not seem fair, the paper in question can be sent back to the exam board for appeal.
Many students appeal exam results when they are one or two marks away from the next grade up. The right study plan and a good understanding of the marking scheme for each exam can help avoid this situation.
If your child has achieved marks close to the grade line in their mock exams, it could be time to get them some help with a GCSE tutor.
