Hi. I'm Ade, and I have been tutoring successfully for over 7 years now, with over 100 students (over 3 years on GoStudent with over 40 students), Grades 7 to 12, GCSE, and A-Levels. I have a Bachelors degree in Geophysics, a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Education, and I'm currently doing a 2nd Degree in Mathematics. I keep my lessons simple, with a focus on consistent practice. I also tailor my lessons to fit the student and get the best out of them. Simply put, I help you understand the foundations of the concepts you're trying to learn, and we'll do lots of practice. I specialize in building students skill and confidence in facing and solving problems. I'm pretty good at it because I am always learning new things myself, so I never forget what it's like be a semi-beginner, and I tend to relate very well with my students experience. This helps me communicate very effectively and support them unconditionally, all the while holding them to high expectations (based on their ability). I am a learner, and I am very good at helping others learn. I look forward to hearing from you! I obtained my first degree in the physical sciences: a Bachelors degree in Geophysics. Afterwards, I obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) to hone my skills in helping others learn and achieve their academic goals. I am currently pursuing a 2nd degree in Mathematics.

"Hi Christine, Diarmuid here. I just got my results and I got the 2nd highest German grade you can get. You helped me so much and I can't thank you enough." Hello there! My name is Christine and I am a junior doctor. I have always been passionate about learning and sharing knowledge in a manner that's simple and enjoyable. With over 5 years tutoring experience, I focus on an engaging, holistic, and student-centric approach to tutoring, whilst sharing my passion and love for learning! I firmly believe the key to mastering anything is understanding the basics and then weaving them together to gain the bigger picture. I have worked diligently to hone my skils over the years, even applying them in my own studies in the medical field, and have been able to get testimonials such as the one above and: "Hi Christina only to let you know Felipe had a 6 in biology which is very good compared with the 3 in January! Hope we can work together from September. So, thank you x" - Pilar "Just to let you know Yousef passed all his GCSEs. Thank you." - Naz "Hii, it’s Mike. I just wanted to say thank you so much for helping me this year and I wouldn’t have done it without your help and support." During the sessions, I work with my students through the agreed upon topic paying close attention to the core concepts, we go through some exam-style questions, and also learn how to frame the answers in the way examiners expect. I also share effecting studying and memory techniques to enable them to better learn and master their content. In my spare time, I enjoy singing (I'm currently taking a music theory class and hope to progress to one day play the cello) and dancing. These help me unwind and also have fun! I look forward to extending this interesting mixture of fun and learning to my students and help the strike that oh-so-elusive balance between work and play so that they can become the best versions of themselves. Would you like to have similar testimonials as these? "hellooooo! hope your doing well. it’s the results day today, just letting you know that i got a 7 in german!! i am very happy with the results, thank you so much for all of your help i definitely wouldn’t have got this if it wasn’t for you 😁" - Shangami "Hello Christine, I hope you have had a good summer. Alastair wanted you to know he passed GCSE combined. He got 55 Score for his GCSE. He is now going to do A levels and considering btec science to compliment a level PE. My career journey started from a very young age, where I was writing poetry, stories, taught Mathematics, repaired bicycles , phones and computers, and played multiple instruments. I have the ability to learn and master anything from Novice to Advanced through planning, disciple and consistency. I have nine experience in teaching Mathematics and English to different age groups and also created my teaching material to enhance learning and understanding. I have been coding in Python and Javascript, and have intermediate understanding on C, C++, C#, Java and PHP. I have created projects that help solve any problem that I experienced in a working environment, and these projects reduce the amount of work and time because they are accurate and reliable. I do motivational talks about life, technology, arts and Mathematics, and 90 percent of the students that I have worked with have managed to improve their academics and work ethic. I have been requested by schools to come and assist with complex Mathematical concepts after they saw my incredible work with people., and I don't just work for a salary, but I work to learn, teach, improvise and solve any problem to create a healthy succesful working environment. In all my years of working, I have been solving problems and creating better solutions, combining ideas and working as a wise team to ensure that quality results are obtained. In the previous years, I was teaching the piano, guitars and vocals on my spare time, to help children escape depression, violence and drugs. I love working with people, learning from them and teaching them, and I believe that working with people is creating a system that is beneficial. I enrolled to study a Bachelor’s degree in Education at the University of the Free State until 2019. I was majoring in Mathematics and Life Sciences because I was passionate about teaching Mathematics. In 2018, around December, my biological brother passed away and it had a severe impact on my academics in 2019. I dropped out in 2019, and started my tutoring program in August 2019. With the minimum income that I was getting, I bought musical instruments, teaching equipment and devices. In 2020, I was employed at a school to teach Mathematics until 2023 December. Between 2020 and 2023, I was learning numerous skills, Mathematics, computer hardware, different musical instruments and got exposed to programming. I was running a successful tutoring program, internet café and music program. I had saved enough money to pay for BSc in I.T at NWU for 2024. In February 2024, all my equipment was stolen, worth more than R100 000 and I had to start over again. I got a job at ATNS in Aviation where I am currently working as an Aeronautical Information Management Officer. Before I left Bloemfontein, I had done enough research about Information Technology and other skills relevant. I developed the passion for coding, fascinated by its way of granting one the ability to program anything, that could solve time and problems. In 2023, I was using JavaScript to code automated Mathematics tests, I used it to study, and create projects that solved any problem that I encountered. I am currently learning JavaScript and Python. I am currently enrolled with the University of the People for BSc in Computer Science. I had a problem with learning how to code because it was different from Mathematics and theoretical work, it challenged me to learn and apply code to solve problems. I am eager to learn and have drafted well detailed plan about my future in I.T. Before I enrolled at the University, I prepared myself by getting books and studying from multiple sources.

What is the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme?
The IB Diploma is a two-year educational programme for students aged 16 to 19. It encourages curiosity about the world and the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills as well as providing an internationally accepted qualification for entry into higher education.
It aims not only to develop students’ knowledge in a range of subjects and disciplines, but helps them become confident, self-motivated and resilient global citizens.
The programme is composed of six academic subject groups along with the Diploma Programme (DP) Core. The DP Core requires students to reflect on the nature of knowledge in a course called Theory of Knowledge (ToK), participate in independent research to produce an Extended Essay (EE), and engage in extracurricular activities related to Creativity, Action and Service (CAS).
What subjects are covered in the IB Diploma Programme?
Subjects are offered at a Standard and Higher Level. Students must pass at least three subjects at Higher Level and a total of six from the following list:
Each subject is scored from 1-7, and up to 3 additional points may be awarded for the ToK essay and the EE. A minimum of 24 points is required to pass, with 45 points the maximum that can be achieved. The CAS does not count towards the final score but must be completed to earn the diploma.
In general, a score of 30 points or higher is considered enough to gain admission to many universities, with more selective universities requiring a score of 40 or higher.
How to get good results in the IB Diploma Programme
The IB Diploma is a rigorous academic programme which many students find challenging, which can lead to overwhelm, a loss of motivation and procrastination.
It’s vital to start early when it comes to preparing for the exams. Revising should ideally be done in short amounts daily and balanced across multiple subjects. Completing past papers will familiarise you with the types of questions asked and improve your exam technique.
Using an IB tutor is a sure path to success as they can teach effective learning strategies, help you gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter, and work with you to develop a realistic and achievable study schedule that will keep you on track throughout the year.
GoStudent has a range of IB tutors that have direct experience in teaching the curriculum and understand the assessment methods. They have a special focus on the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) essay and the Extended Essay, teaching the necessary skills and strategies to succeed in both as well as help across different subjects within the level.
